My friend has a coyote eating all his chickens and wants to know the best way to lure and kill the turd.  Traps, bait, shooting, anything.

dude you are on an AR15 site.  what do you think the answer is going to be?  55gr. to the neck will drop it like a rock

Thanks for the obvious answer.  I am looking for ways to get the bastard into our sights quickly in the first place.

I can verify that a 55gr VMax going 3900 fps from a .220 Swift makes extremely quick work of the them.

Bait with chicken, shoot with gun, bury with shovel, speak with silence.

Stake a chicken out somewhere with just enough slack for it to move some. Sit back and wait from a well hidden blind. Try to play the wind in your favor.

I'd say put some snare traps around the coop. Then finish it off with the 55gr to the neck thing.

You don't have any predator calls?
If he's eating your chickens he'll come to a call pretty quick like.
Or as was mentioned stake a chicken out where he can get to it and as soon as the chicken starts raising hell he will come running into the dinner bell.
55gr to the neck will amke short work of him.

Get out in the woods at night, use a blue spotting light and a wounded rabbit call. Coyotes can be killed with just about anything, .223 or 22-250 work best.

Paint a fake tunnel on the side of a mountain.
I've seen it work.

Hot lead always works. The problem is the coyote is a nightime creature, so NV would be needed

Sounds like chickens should be somewhat near the top of your bait list.  But what do I know, I'm just a city boy.

First off sure its not a fox?
Anyway it hasn't been too dry here to rule out finding tracks to figure out his route. I would assume so there. I would just do a little scouting finding his mode of travel then set traps accordingly. Also I don't know about the legal issues in Ohio but here they are pretty much fair game here sometimes requiring notification.

My wife and I got this one by playing section line snooker with the pickup truck and an SKS with a 30 round mag.

I've never had any luck baiting coyotes.. I've had the best luck just running them down with a pickup, ATV or snowmobile.. and then whacking them with some kind of Warsaw Pact death implement..

If you want to kill one AND keep his friends from coming back--set up a 'trot line' w/ very sturdy treble hooks w/ some meat hanging from them.

They will hook themselves and others will stay away.
