What humidity level are you guys running at? I just ordered a 12 pack of 72% boveda packs, but my buddy said he wouldn't recommend going that high because of mold/beetles? Did I make a mistake?

Educate me.

I run all my humis at 65 F and 65 RH....and that is my personal preference.
72 is not outrageous as clearly there is a demand and they sell them.
You will have to be cautious and check on them but you should be doing that anyway.

Seasons change and so will the storage environments. Higher humidity sticks may not smoke as well...but there is always dry-boxing to help there.

I am sure a few others will chime in...overall, that is not the RH I would pick for where I live but they may be just what you need for where you live.
Try them...you will not destroy your box.

I try to keep mine right at 70RH and 70F.  That seems to work best around here in OK. I have a new hygrometer on the way as I dont think the one i have is working properly. I cant keep it calibrated. I ran the salt test and calibrated 3 times and within 2 weeks the calibration was off.

My humidors are set at around 80% humidity.

81F, 62%

My house has no A/C and the humicare box I have jacks the humidity up around 85%, so I just use the natural RH of the air. Seems to work fine enough. No mold or bug issues.

68/68 for aging. room temp and 65% in the bar top humidor for sticks i have lined up to smoke. If you go too high on your rh it will increase the chance you will have swelling and splitting.

I try to maintain a relative 65-68% humidity personally. Seasonal changes here between spring/summer and fall is reminding me to get a humidifier for the house this winter.

The closet humidor in the basement, which has boxes I'm aging, are kept at about 65 / 65 year round. My cabinet humidor, which is what I smoke from, is kept at 65 degrees / 70% RH.

I live where it is extremely dry and my humidor is in a room that usually averages about 81 degrees in the summer. I also like my cigars "wet". I keep it at 75-82%.

Damn dude.  75-82%?  How can you smoke a dripping wet cigar?  Watch out for beetles, if they don't drown.

Mine are kept around 65%.  Usually a little lower.

I'm also in AZ, mine stays at about 75 degrees and about 73%.

With humidity that high how do your cigars not burn like shit? When I first got into cigars I went the 70/70 route and my cigars always had burn problems. Now that I'm around 65 RH they burn SOOOO much better.

This. I find they age better and are much easier to smoke.
