Im building a rather large humidor out of red oak. My question is, can I get away with "not" lining the interior with Spanish cedar? from what Ive read it suggests all humidors to be lined. Its hard to find where I am, and ordering it online would be pretty expensive. I plan on building some trays to set the sticks in, and those "will" be Spanish cedar.

Ebay has plenty of Spanish cedar usually for a good price. The plywood would work great for what you are doing.

I cannot comment on the use of red oak and any effects it may or may not have.

That being said, if you walk into most B&M's, youll see that the shelves are not lined, nor all the walls, nor is the ceiling with SC. Most people who do "coolerdoors" and "winodors"/"vinodoors" dont have them lined, only trays or even a box or 2 to help maintain RH. In other words, lining with SC is not mandatory and you should be just fine as long as the oak does not adversley affect the cigars.
