I have a feeder on the deck. One flew right into the french doors and knocked himself out.
I picked him up and held him for about 5 minutes, then he flew off. It's not uncommon for us to be sitting in the living room and hear and "thud" and look up to see a hummingbird flying away after running into the doors. |

If it is drinking while perched, then it is simply a "bird" at that point. ![]() |

We have a bunch of feeders on our back deck. Usually only the ruby throated (Anna's I think) are around. Early this last spring some shorter stockier ones came by for a couple of days. The clan of Anna's ran them off though. What was interesting is that we could see and hear the dive bombing bird-fights, and hear them scolding each other off in the trees. We still have lots of the Anna's around.
They sound like huge bugs when they buzz around our heads. |
