Seem's that I read somewhere that Russian vehicle crews ride inside the vehicles when they are dropped. Does anyone know if this is true? They experimented with tank crews a long time ago (1970's maybe?) but the crews didn't fair too well. I've seen a Sheridan burn in. It left a big hole in the ground too. IIRC it was about three or four feet deep. An M60 MG hit the ground about 10 feet away from me on a jump. That fucker actually bounced. Scared the living bejeesus out of me. |

IIRC they successfully drop the BMD series (essentially airborne BMPs) with a partial crew on a regular basis. |
