I gave them 3 plates of dog food and mixed vegetables, plus a bowl of water. They like to scoop up the food with both paws and dunk it before eating

Ah, you FED them.  I think most of our members will agree that's not a good idea with most wild animals, in particular trash pandas.

My uncle had some as pets. They were neat but required a lot of attention and upkeep. He had an indoor/outdoor enclosure for them connected to the house. No matter what they would always find a way out and into the house. Super friendly, loved being brushed. Lots of fun but destructive little bastards.

When I was a youngster, occasionally I would stay with the grandparents in Worcester, the organic garbage was placed into receptacles like these in the back yard.

I used to watch two raccoons come in, one would stand on the lever, the other would descend into the inner can and grab edible garbage up for them both to enjoy, crafty little critters

Met an ASM who's wife, a Vet, brought home a crippled cat

Cat was outside, raccoons attacked the cat, the guy runs out barefoot with nothing to fight with...and got shredded

But he saved the cat.

A year before the Webelo's visited the local FD.  They told the story of helping a guy attacked by raccoons. Blood was all over the place

They live in the woods behind me, I have no issues with it and neither do they. If The food is not out at the normal time for some reason they sit and look at me like wtf, lol. I've also posted pics of wild sand hill cranes that I made friends with eating bread from my fingers. Unlike most of GD I don't shoot critters that don't bother me.

Only the one that my mother had until I was a year old or so. He would sit on my high chair table and eat with me. When his balls dropped and he became a teenager he got attitude problems and had to go.

I have raccoons, opossum, squirrels, chipmunk, deer, skunks, foxes and more living in the woods behind my house and the only animal that has damaged anything is a stupid woodpecker that used to peck on my deck.

That is great if you don't have a garden, chickens or a farm. Coons are very destructive. They wipe out entire end rows of corn fields, destroy gardens, break into chicken coops and kill all the chickens. I trap, shoot and kill every coon I can.
