Once they make a round that size that will reliably incapacitate human threats (meeting the FBI protocol would be a great start) out of a 4.5" barrel I'm all over it.
I think the little 5.7x28 case, blown out straight (.312 or so), with the RIGHT bullet and the RIGHT propellant might make it happen. I also have a crazy idea for the .25x25. Ditch the vestigial .25ACP rim and stretch the case out to 25mm long. Stuff in a shit tonne of powder, add 25-30gr monolithic HP bullet driven to warp speed. |

I carry the Ruger 57 with two spare mags. 61 rounds of 5.7 should hold them off for a while. OWB carries just fine.

I have both the PMR30 and KSG. They are both ridiculously fun to shoot. The PMR30 will wear out your trigger finger before it's out of ammo. I have no feeding issues, since following the explicit instuctions in the manual: load 5 rounds, tap magazine against rear to fully seat, repeat. As for stopping power, check out the reports on TMJ bullets Top .22 WMR Rounds. These things work on game, and I'm sure they'll work for defense (120 rds and I only have to change mags 3 times).

I'm impressed with the .22 magnum cartridge.
Lots of good things from a small round. |

Yall don't even understand... MAXIMUM ROUNDS!
How about the super amazing always reliable CALICO! You can get 50 or 100 round drum of 9mm in pistol format. https://calicofirearms.com/product/9mm-liberty-iii-pistol/ Want to stick with a 22LR? Fine.. here is a 100 rounds of 22 LR in pistol format. https://calicofirearms.com/product/22lr-m-110-pistol/ |

I often wondered if a .33-.34 caliber, high pressure round that is the same OAL of a 380acp would make a good pocket gun round. Reduce the caliber of the 380acp to provide more steel around the chamber and greatly increase the pressure, this may allow the use of existing pocket guns designs. I don't know if you could get enough of a boost in performance to matter though.

Or maybe just make it .17 caliber, and round balls instead of pointy bullets so that you can fit more. This would also eliminate feeding issues since the projectile doesn't jave a "front" and if it was air powered you wouldn't need a cartridge case, and you could just pour them in a hole around the barrel and it would hold like 550.
If only there was such a thing. |
