Here’s my last 2. Top is a 1950s JC Higgins (made by High Standard) and bottom is a Remington 552 made in 1992. Both shoot well however the triggers are terrible. I shoot them 3-4 times a year. I have probably 8 .22s now. Attached File |

OST. Used to make fun of my dad for so many 22’s. Mom told him no more. Then he stared buying 17hmr’s. I will never part with them now that he is gone. 1st year 10/22 Single six convertible Norinco ATD Colt:Umarex ar-22 Henry silver boy 77/22 w/manlicker That is what I can think of off the top of my head without opening the safe. I did ditch the Mosquito though. |

| I have a pre-‘68 bolt action, tube magagazine, 24” barrel .22lr/Long/Short I picked up used from GT Distributors about ten years ago for $60. It’s the best $60 I ever spent. I had the barrel threaded for a can, and shooting CCI Quiets suppressed is literally Hollywood quiet. You hear the firing pin drop and then the bullet hit down range. There’s absolutely no report. Everyone who shoots it laughs the first time they pull the trigger. Many ask if the gun fired. |

Nice. I've got the same High Standard .22. The damn thing is a laser with the vintage scope. I'm always on the lookout for a decent Remington 552 but no luck so far. |

Right there with with you! I just picked up another Remington 37 Rangemaster on the 4th of July. Sighted it in the next day and shot it in a match on Monday. I also bought a 20X Unertl 1 1/2" target scope to go with it. I will then have two identical 37s with scopes to go along with my two Remington 513T rifles and a 521. I have bought a Browning Buckmark Bullseye with the 7 1/4" barrel, a CZ 457 VPT in the Manners composite stock for my wife to shoot in the matches, and a Smith and Wesson 17 over the last year. I'm looking hard for a Smith and Wesson 18, and 41 and a Winchester 52C to add to my collection. |

Same here. My first firearm, given to me by my grandfather when I was 5 yrs old, is a Meriden Arms model 15. I was told that my granfather traded a washing machine motor for it in the 1940's or 50's. I still have it and more recently I bought a Tikka T1x. The model 15 was a pump action .22 rifle made by Meriden Arms Company of Meriden, Connecticut. The story of this rifle has to start with the company that made it: Sears, Roebuck and Company. Sears, Roebuck and Co was making millions selling brand labeled merchandise to retailers and consumers all over the U.S., but especially the untamed west where catalog sales were popular due to lack of retailers, or rather the lack of stocking retailers. Sears had been looking for more gun makers to fill their orders with. In 1899 Sears signed a contract with Andrew Fyerberg to purchase his entire production capacity. Fyerberg was operating out of a small factory in Worcester, MA. After signing the agreement he needed more production space, so he moved to an old shoe factory in Hopkinton, MA. In 1904 Winchester broke their agreement with Sears (one they would renew later on), which left Sears in need of more guns and fast. Sears outright purchased Andrew Fyrberg's company and moved it to the a large factory in Meriden, originally occupied by the Meriden Malleable Iron Co. While looking for more gun designs to produce, Sears was offered the chance to purchase (or lease?) the patent rights to a pump action .22 designed by Basil Savage, son of Arthur Savage of Savage Arms fame. It is rumored though, that the gun was actually designed by Arthur Savage himself, and was a derivative of his own pump 22 rifle. He supposedly had the patent put in his son's name to prevent any lawsuits from Savage Arms Co investors. The gun was patented in 1912 and was introduced in the Sears Fall catalog that year. |

I inherited a Remington Model 24 from my grandfather that I love shooting. Modern ammo will blow the extractor out but CCI Quiet will cycle. I replaced the recoil spring and put new extractors in it and it runs like a top. It is marked .22 Long Rifle but modern ammo is just too hot. With CCI Quiet, not the semi, it functions just as it should. Really accurate and really quiet. |

My uncle had a Remington pump 22 when I was a kid. I literally fired around +20,000 rounds thru it as a kid on the farm. It was pumped so much the action / forearm would open itself held vertically. Picked up one for myself.  BL-22 Like it way better than my 39A and I converted it into a break down.

I had four Savage bolt-action .22 rifles from the 1950s that hadn't been out of the gun safe in over a decade. So I sold them all last Fall. Still have an old Springfield .22. All my other .22 rifles are post-1980. |

I have my mother's mother's (my grandmother) Winchester 69. It's not a super exciting rifle, but I'm glad to have it. She shot competitively when she was young. My dad probably shot 1000 groundhogs with it. I can't find a pic, but I wanted to learn about it, so I found this ad.   |

If you want a High Standard Higgins, try to get one (Model 32 etc) with the retractable sling, just because it's cool, not because it's particularly usable. I have one, just because when my Airman father decided to buy his very first firearm it was in the 1950s, he shopped at Sears, and he was intrigued by the sling.

| I came into a Remington 512 Speedmadter for $20 at a pawnshop a few years ago. Stock was broken off just behind the reciever tang. Found a Boyd's stock online for about $40 or so. |
