there was a good video on Youtube of one being fired, the "clips" were straightened with a special tool prior to reloading.
Apparently it worked better in some regards than the cloth belt fed MGs, the metal clips did not shrink when they got wet so didn't cause feed issues, however they did apparently collect dirt well and would cause issues that way
