| How to get the classic view? |
Is this while running nothing but IE or are other apps running too? 512 MB is not a lot of memory but should be ok for IE with some smaller apps running. What is your processor? |

Now that I've gotten used to the tabs, I love them. I tried Firefox briefly a year or two back, but I kept accidently closing the browser (and ALL the tabs), when I just wanted to close the tab I was viewing. IE7 warns you if you close the browser with more than one tab open. A very nice touch that helped me get used to it without wanting to throw my PC out the window. Not letting you put the File,Edit, etc menus at the very top is retarded though. Hell, they aren't there at all by default. I had to turn them on. |
It's up top to the right of the address bar. Took me forever to find it too. I hate it but need to use IE for school. The rest of the time I am on my Mac in Safari (donning Nomex). |
wow thanks for the helpful information ![]() if you don't have something usefull to post. don't waste our time |
...and that's yet another feature that they stole from Opera. Ie7 has made one of my systems unstable - the network card randomly forgets it's there, my screen (not a monitor issue) will go blank for a few seconds at a time, and the spooler service crashes every time I try to print. IE7 is the only configuration change or new software on the box. FPOS. |
turn off phishing of web pages and it will help alot |
I did turn that off, and it was still very slow. I noticed it usually was slow just after starting up the program, for say a couple minutes then it would work ok. It was like every time I opened the program it would do something in the background that was lagging the system. |
In Firefox, Tools-->Options-->Tabs-->Check the box next to "Warn Me Before Closing Multiple Tabs". Sometimes it pays to explore the options a little bit before abandoning a good piece of software because you don't like the way it behaves. The option to change it may only be 3 clicks away. IE 7 is ok, but Firefox 2 is still better. |
did you install the top patch. from the link that i listed as well?
|
No, I didn't see any patches listed. Maybe I'll try that. |
I got the patch and that does seem to solve the problem. Thanks! |
Ahh... Can't believe I missed that. Tnx. |
