Donut of death or the Chevron of carnage

You didn't mention what the application was.

I've got a donut, but I'd prefer the chevron.

IMHO, donut=faster, chevron=more precise.

not to hijack but WTH can you actually order an ACOG that isn't backordered until the next millenium?

I vote Chevron but you can hardly go wrong either way, no?

No kidding - it took me 4+ months to get one from Trijicon.

And I prefer the donut.

TA-31 with the donut seems most popular.
If you want issue, get an NSN.
Check the optics forum in the AR-15 forum.
Huge run down but the TA-31 always seems to come out on top.

I had the TA31 and TA31-A

It's preferance but I like the triangle reticle of the A the best.

Edited to add, you're not going to go wrong with any of the listed choices!

After careful thought and consideration (not to mention quite a bit of input from "those in the know" here on ARFCOM), I selected the plain 'ole TA31 "Donut Of Death" ACOG for my multi/general purpose needs.

The TA31 does not come with a mount. Trijicon sells the TA51 mount, but I went ahead and bought the ARMS 19S. Heck of a mount for a fair price.

Your biggest issue will be finding one in stock..... depending on the config you choose.

Depending on how much money you are talking about.... a TA31, with ARMS-or-Larue ACOG flattop mount, and a ARMS 40L BUIS, will run over $1100.

I like donuts.... but havent spent enough time behind one to really be sure.  I think as this gift is concerned.... not knowing it's intended use.... even the TA01NSN would be a great optic.  If time is of the essense, EAGLEFIREARMS has the NSN with mount and built in BUIS, for $849.

If you want the details....

thanks FAL, for several reasons now that i've spent this morning learning about ACOGs, i believe i will go with the TA01NSN

i'll give this one go up to top to see if there are any objections before i order though
