California Highway Patrol California End of Watch: Thursday, November 17, 2005 Biographical Info Age: 37 Tour of Duty: 13 yrs Badge Number: 13739 Incident Details Cause of Death: Gunfire Date of Incident: Thursday, November 17, 2005 Weapon Used: Gun; Unknown type Suspect Info: Apprehended Officer Andy Stevens was shot and killed during a traffic stop in a rural area of Yolo County. Officer Stevens, a commercial vehicle inspector, had made a traffic stop near the intersection of County Road 96 at Highway 16. He approached the vehicle and greeted the driver, when he was shot and instantly killed. Passing motorists who witnessed the incident used Officer Stevens' police radio to call for assistance. The suspect fled the scene, but he and a female accomplice were arrested early the next morning by members of the Placer County Sheriff's Department. Officer Stevens had served with the agency for 13 years and was assigned to the Valley Division. He is survived by his wife. |

Police Officer Dillon Stewart New York City Police Department New York End of Watch: Monday, November 28, 2005 Biographical Info Age: 35 Tour of Duty: 5 yr Badge Number: Not available Incident Details Cause of Death: Gunfire Date of Incident: Monday, November 28, 2005 Weapon Used: Gun; Unknown type Suspect Info: Apprehended Officer Stewart was shot and killed as he and his partner attempted to stop a car for running a red light in Brooklyn. When the officers attempted to stop the vehicle the driver opened fire on the officers' patrol car. One of the rounds struck Officer Stewart in the arm, passing through an opening his vest. The driver of the vehicle fled on foot but was arrested in a nearby building a short time later. Officer Stewart was transported to Kings County Hospital where he succumbed to his wound approximately 6 hours later. Officer Stewart had served with the New York City Police Department for 5 years and was assigned to the 70th Precinct. May he rest in peace |

jim sell retired from the blytheville police dept. ar. in 2000. he retired a captain from my dept. i had worked with jim since 1978 until he retired. jim was from the old school. if you wore a badge, you were part of his family. after retirement he moved to gassville. he made a routine stop on a car in his town. the driver a jacob robida from ma. was on the run for hacking some people up in a gay bar. jim approached the car and was shot twice in the face and died instantly.
jim will be sorely missed. my prayes to his friends and family. i will not forget the good times. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A ROUTINE STOP!!!!!!!!!! |

California Highway Patrol California End of Watch: Friday, February 17, 2006 Biographical Info Age: 36 Tour of Duty: 5 years Badge Number: 16386 Incident Details Cause of Death: Gunfire Date of Incident: Friday, February 17, 2006 Weapon Used: Gun; Unknown type Suspect Info: Charged with murder Officer Earl Scott was shot and killed while making a traffic stop on Highway 99 in Stanislaus County at approximately 0440 hours. Officer Scott stopped a vehicle that he had observed speeding on northbound Highway 99, just south of Hammett Avenue. Officer Scott approached the vehicle and obtained the registration card from the driver. As Officer Scott walked back to his patrol car the suspect opened fire, fatally striking Officer Scott in the head. A passing motorist, who was also heading north, saw the officer falling to the ground and the suspect's car speeding away. The witness exited the freeway and turned around, returning to the scene where he called law enforcement on a cell phone. When backup officers they were able to identify the suspect's car by the registration that was still in Officer Scott's hand. The suspect later walked into the Stockton Police headquarters and turned himself in. He was arrested and charged with murder. The suspect has an extensive criminal record, including arrests for robbery and assaulting a police officer. Officer Scott had served with the California Highway Patrol for 5 years. He is survived by his father, stepmother, and sister. His father and two uncles all retired as sergeants from the California Highway Patrol. One of Officer Scott's cousins currently serves as a sergeant with the agency. |
