Anyone know where I can get this patch? MAACS only has the I MEF w/o the FWD part on it. I want to ditch the other combat patch for this as we are only ADCON to that unit. |

The "Fwd" designation for I MEF and II MEF is an administrative one that mainly concerns the way Marines do paperwork and account for who is deployed vice not. While most of their command elements and forces were deployed, the MEFs were still responsible to train/equip/deploy their respective MEUs and other units, for example. If it's going on an Army uniform, you should be GTG with the regular MEF patch. |

Sadly that is not the case. On the I MEF (FWD) patch there is the (FWD) desination below teh eagle and a Roman numberal I above it. The letter from the MEF Commander to the Army, and the letter from the Army auhtorizing it is pretty specific. Thanks for the explanation though. And thanks for not giving me the "you are not authorized" to wear it. I have told all my young enlisted they will need to carry a copy of the orders with them until they make at least SSG beucase people will be telling them to take off the patch. |
So you've actually seen a MEF(Fwd) patch, not just the logo on paper or a computer? As for people telling you that you can't wear it, tell them to STFU. The word should be out by now; when I landed in Kuwait I did a double-take at a 1st Mar Div patch the first time I saw one on a set of DCUs but that was Feb 2005. If a Marine questions it, reprimand him for not knowing his Marine Corps history (they hate that |

MAACS has them: http://www.maacs.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc? Look in the "Marine Expeditionary Forces" section on the front page, with the specials. I don't know if anyone makes IR ones, but I guess it's just a matter of time. |
