An Uncle Tom yesterday and you know what it really pissed me the fuck off...Now normally it doesn't but the guy who called me that must have caught me at the wrong time or something...

Ya know, this whole "you are a racist thing"––has really begun to get under my skin...I am getting it from both sides now––and where I used to just laugh it off, I am really growing to resent even the word now.

I can tell you guys I have never been the real recipient of racism.  I mean nothing like what my parents and grandparents went through. I mean I have had nasty things said to me on occasion and I have even been called the N word––but on a whole I think I have had a really good time in life.  Those who are stupid enough to call me names etc––get the wrath and I move on––not ever really thinking about it...But since this Obama has been in office––I have never heard about racism so much...It's on Hannity and Rush, and Beck, and NBC, and CBS, and everywhere I go.  I mean I decided well hell I wont watch TV––but then it is on the radio...I say shit I will go on the computer, and it is on Facebook...I go to the store and I have to hear about it in the check out line.  I mean, Fuck, I have really just had it.

If you don't agree with every single thing that this administration throws down the pike you are a racist––-and yesterday I guess I was just in a really shitty mood.  It was actually my fault––because I should have known that you can't discuss Obama with people.  But I took that chance––and of course since I was correct I got called an Uncle Tom.  Then he threw race traitor on top of that.  I told him to be really honest––you are the race traitor...You are going with a party that has never given a rabbit's shit about black people...And the more I talked the more pissed off I became...

I am so mad right now...I told you guys––if Obama got in––he would set race relations back in this country hundreds of years––and I was right.  Now you have all these holier then thou people calling everyone racist––-white and blacks alike and it is horrible...

Just thought I would rant for a few...

It's just too easy for someone to cease thinking and throw out a word or two and think they've won, that they've got the high ground and the only thing they're doing is digging an intellectual grave.

The last time I heard someone use the phrase, 'Uncle tom', they were addressing the black girl I was dating at the time, and the moment I stood up for her he tried to tell the people around us that I was just with her to bring her down, to control a black girl. That I was a racist for being in love with a 'sista'.

Fuck'm all.

Tell me about it. This past elections has actually brought the racism out in everybody. It liked threw wood on the fire. On both sides too. :(. I dont talk politics with anybody. I too get frustrated with peoples stupidity. I have made gf's cry before. Not because I yelled at her.. because I put her in her place and she doesnt like it. :P

If people actually looked at the issues and how the candidate will deal with them rather than a big clusterfuck of a popularity contest people of all races, religions, and sexualities would be better off.

BTW thanks for actually talking about your political views in public.

Don't let SCUM get under your skin.  The fact that he has to call you a name shows that he is too stupid to carry on a discussion with.  I always like it when people act like children, it shortens our conversation, and I know not to talk to them again.

I grew up in the deep South as a kid in the 60's and 70's and saw a lot ass holes and bigots on both sides of the race issue which when mixed together nothing good comes from it. I left for the Corp in 75 and while at PI my Sr Drill instructor SSgt Gordine who just so happen to be the Biggest Black Man I had ever seen in my life at that time (He makes Lawrence Taylor look like a small fry) took me and black recruit from Harlem and put us both in a fox hole and taught me one of the greatest lessons of my life that has stuck with me for the last 35 years.

He told and taught us that while in that fox hole and you are surrounded by "Commies" who want nothing more that you ass to be dead, that could care less about your life and dreams, that while you are in that fox hole you are not black and white you are nothing but "Green" and a Marine. You may be light green or dark green but you are a Marine, you both bleed red and if you do not watch out for each other you will be nothing but a dead Marine, just a long forgotten memory of two people who did not look out for each other. Anthony Cole and I became Brothers in the Corp that day and we had each other back covered for the next 4 years we served together.

We are all in this world together and we will always have Idiots on both side that could not find their collective asses with two hands. The 80/20 rule still applies today as it did then 20% will screw it up for the 80% that have to deal with the aftermath, but it's up to us the 80% to Adapt, Improvise and Overcome that collection of idiots that have been attempting to run our government.

This Light Green Marine has you six covered and if the SHTF and you happen to by down Georgia way I've got room in my fox hole for you and your family to hold up until our country is whole again.

It stopped bothering me a loooong time ago.

The only racism I see is from the Democrats. I'll never understand how people can buy into the "You're not good enough and you need our help" bit. It's the party of George Wallace for fucks sake.

I hope someday someone comes along and wakes them up from the poison they've been given.

Your last name wouldn't happen to be Snow, would it?

The racism label is just another way to shut down an argument so they don't have to deal with the actual facts you are presenting. I love to point out that Martin Luther King, Jr. was a registered Republican.

I've been attacked by "peace" advocates who were rallying for Obama and my wife got called a race traitor (She's Puerto Rican but looks like a light skinned black woman).

I got called a cracker and when I gently explained that was a racist term, I got called a liar and racist.

If the irony weren't so fucking crazy, it might be funny.

Think of it as a game of tug-of-war.  I vote we just let go of our side of the rope, and start calling everything and everyone racist too. Someone calls me racist for not liking Obama? I call them a racist for that comment. I will go on and point out all the racism that lead to him getting elected. They want to make race an issue? Fine. Let's talk about 22 years of going to a hate church. 90% of the Obama voters I know never heard about United Trinity Church of Christ or Jeramiah Wright. I'll talk about Van Jones and his comment about white kids too...

Point is this: I don't think we can afford to be silent anymore.

For me, the word racist is losing it's sting.

I was fortunate enough to come from an extended family of mixed inter racial relationships and various backgrounds. It was a great way to grow up. In our family, we have white, hispanic, black, christians, jews and everyuthing in between. We used all the various holidays to celebrate just being together whether it was Christmas or Yom Kippor. It just never mattered to us and our family pictures look like an old "I'd like to teach the worls to sing" Coca Cola commercial.

It's damn near imposiiible for me to be a racist, yet I am labeled as such because I don't agree 100% with this administration.

I should try keeping a few of our pictures from August's big family party on hand at all times and tell people that "I can play the race card too....and here's proof"

I despise Obama and every thing he stands for. This makes me a racist. The fact that if any white person with the same views as him would receive the same vitriol from me is irrelevant. The fact that the entire eight years of the Klingon administration I could not watch him on TV with out using every bad word I know and throwing things at the set means nothing. The fact that to this day I cannot say aloud the name Jimmy Carter with out spitting afterward only means I must have a sinus problem. I do not praise and swallow every word of The One as Gods own Gospel, so I am a racist. So be it. I will be a very vocal and out spoken racist until the end of his four year term or GOD FORBID, the end of the eighth year of his second.

I hope all his supporters are proud of them selves. Not for outing racists, but creating them where there was none before. Way to go.

You are not a race traitor they are the traitors to their country for voting for a socialist. I for one am sick and fucking tired of being labeled racist because I didn't vote for obama and I don't support what he is doing to America

In other words, he's racist for trying to put that BS on you.

I take it you're black?

Then reading your username, yes.

Similar story: there's a black woman I know at work who has been saying the same things.  She dislikes Obama, wanted Hillary Clinton to get the Dem. nomination, but voted for McCain in the general election.  She's of the opinion that for people of her background, there's this unspoken attempt to enforce compliance and they give her hell because she's not "on board".  The black-person-owned radio station she listens to, her friends who are black people, everyone tries to enforce this and she says it drives her up the wall.

I'd really hate it if someone told me to absolutely love a certain public official because he has something in common with me other than political doctrine.  What a load of crap!

he says to tell you he feels your pain, and offered to let you scratch his belly, but I told him you probably prefer cats, so he bit me.

so now he's a violent racist.

on a more serious note, you'll get used to it and the word will hold no power or meaning, people will call you racist and you'll just bite them make a jerk off motion with yer hand and carry on as if they had said nothing.

as for race traitor i've caught that one too, mostly for being interested in a few black girls down through the years but mostly also for treating all people equal and judging them on their actions. Its a waste of breath to point out that only the human race inhabits earth, and that they really mean culture when they speak of race and racism.

It's the final few licks on that dead horse.  I'm hoping we, as a nation, take the final step past all that bullshit; and that the corrupt bastards who have advanced every cause they chose to stand behind on threats of labeling the opposition as "racist" will finally run out of ammo.  We're not even a year into this administration and things have already gotten goofy enough to see that result at the end.

Fuck'm all.

OMG don't even get me started on interracial relationships *lol*...I might just blow the last gasket I have...

funny part is some of the black guys that would call you a race traitor for being with a white guy would be the first to jump in bed with a white girl...

you cant fix stupid. just roll your eyes and punch them in the face

This recent racism push is a sign of desperation.  Race is playing no part in the dwindling popularity of the Congress and the Obama administration.  If a few racists didn't like Obama because of his skin color (I don't know anybody who this applies to), they didn't just start now.  The race issue is being pushed as a desperate attempt at diversion and to garner sympathy.  The Democratic party has successfully politically enslaved the majority of the minorities in this country since the 70s.  They had made people believe that racial apathy is the same as racial discrimination.

Like white people, black people should not feel compelled to defend themselves against unfounded charges of racism, even by those of their own background.  Ignore it, don't let it get to you.

Great post OP.  I can imagine your level of frustration.

I don't know what to think about this crap anymore. I grew up in NYC, in the 1960's, in a very diverse group. Why must people (yes, I am guilty too) put others in categories? As kids, we made absolutely no distinction between friends. It's only when social pressures from adults came that a distinction was made. I remember my mother telling me that Mohammad (my minibike riding friend) was not a good friend (gee, I wonder why). Yet, he was a great friend to me as a little kid.

It must be social pressure. From the news, from the president, from others. I hope I am smart enough to see through it. I don't want to be manipulated by others. Especially those pushing an agenda that is wrong. I won't be party to a decrease in good relations between "friends".

Sorry to hear it.  It is total crap.  Sadly, though, I don't think Obama set it back so much as opened the "dialogue" he sought, but it's not going as planned.  If there's one thing he's done that I can respect at all, it was acknowledging that the beef with him is over the role of gov, and not race, contrary to Carter's position.  But he and his team have still leveraged his appearance enough that he has helped bring the issue to the surface in an ugly way.  You'll have to deal with this BS for a while, but just know there are at least as many people who are with you on it, they're just not as vocal as the lot of progressive libs who will stoop to any low to gain an advantage.

There is a real clash of cultures boiling right now.  The left has no principles worth fighting for, so there's no floor to constrain their behavior.  They want to define the disconnect as driven by race because they benefit from ignorance.  The truth is that it is a conflict between  those who love freedom and those who fear it, we who understand reality and they who ignore it.  Those of us who truly believe in what the US is about - living in a free, strong nation of equal opportunities and unequal outcomes - will never care about the looks, speech or gods of those who stand with us protecting our way of life.

It's going to be a bad few years, but the bright side is I think even the most thick-headed among us are starting to see how badly race baiting is being abused.  It may go out of style sooner than expected.

I'm sorry that your catching flak because of idiots.

Its never about race with me. Ether you are a smart thinking person or an idiot. Blacks calling blacks uncle toms is despicable. And what is even worse is how loosely stupid people throw these terms around. It is the argument "ender" for someone who is loosing and loosing fast. Don't pay it any attention, just know that you are far superior to them emotionally and mentally.

You have wisdom and they quote campaign slogans and promises.
