Tracking number says Delivered at xx:yy but nothing in the mailbox. Triple checked. Not there.
I ask the buyer to resend it somehow he gets scared and backs out of the deal. Cancels the personal check that was lost by USPS. Lost a substantial sale over USPS stupidity. I opened a case with USPS and that's like writing Santa Claus. Let it be clear. Their tracking system means shyte. They are liars with zero credibility. Should have requested PayPal instead of 19th century technology. |

Easy to loose an envelope (those guys could lose an elephant)....their sorting machines get cleaned out every few years and they find a lot of lost letters from years gone by....also the machines tear up a lot of mail....those they send to a unit to try to figure out where to send them (if they can) they put the pieces into plastic sandwich bags and send them to whatever address they can piece together.. The post office.... the largest single affirmative action employer in America. |

Losing is one thing. But losing it and claiming they delivered it at 10:35 am in my mailbox is absurd. The sender went, WTF. Tracking says delivered. He has no way of confirming it is not there. Makes me look bad also. Was the delivery yesterday? I have seen it happen before where it says delivered because of their crazy tracking then the next day when it gets delivered it updates. |

I love it when they mail you an empty box that's had its stuff stolen out of the inside. The sorry stickers are a nice touch. I had this happen with a LaRue mount, Post Office said sorry can't do anything for you. The seller was remarkable and refunded my money, without me asking, he felt partly responsible for not buying insurance. |

Actually, yea, this. Has everyone given it 3-4 days to turn up before panicking? |

Yesterday I went to the Post Office to get the mail and they had put a package in my P.O. Box which I thought was odd. I look at it closer and the package which was in one of the envelopes lined with bubble wrap had been slit open on the side and the contents were missing. They scanned it like I picked it up four days ago and put it in my P.O. Box. Over the last few months I had a package full of garden seeds disappear and a box of chickens opened and some of the chickens were missing.
I wish I didn't have to deal with USPS but I have never been able to get FedEx and UPS to deliver to my house. |

I've been lucky so far. I've shipped 100's of packages USPS and never had one lost yet. I had one damaged, and USPS paid the claim without a hassle. I use Click-n-Ship exclusively. All the issues I've seen in-bound on my side were the result of careless packaging and hand written shipping labels. (Knock-On-The-Wooden-Postsmasters-Head) |

I did an EE deal for a trijicon that did not show although the tracking said it was delivered. It was insured by the sender and the sender was paid after I got visited by a postal inspector twice and swore out a Declaration. Over a year later, it showed up. I called the postal inspector and told him the trijicon showed up and they can have it if they swear out a Declaration of them being wholly at fault and apologize. His response, just keep the trijicon and be thankful it is free. |

So how do I handle it now? If the check gets here in a few days. The buyer cancels the transaction in the middle because mail is a few days late. I am really glad I didn't ship. Being as its a personal check, you shouldn't ship until AFTER the check clears anyway. In the past, at least 7-10 business days, they may be different with the newer banking laws, ask your bank. Secondly, NEVER EVER trust USPS tracking, no matter what it says online. It is not fail safe, as you are seeing. I would go to your local post office and have them do a trace on it. See what they can find. They will probably tell you to give it a few more days and it very well might show up. Also, if the buyer is that skittish as the others have said, you probably are better off not doing the deal with him anyway. |

(Knock-On-The-Wooden-Postsmasters-Head) Major issues involving lost or damaged packages is about 1 in 3000 in my experience. However, fuckups where they mail packages to Hawaii and stuff before sending it to the CONUS address is like 1 in 50-100. |

Quoted: Insure delivery of a personal check? Would you insure it for $0.25, the cost getting each printed check?Quoted: Quoted: Insurance. It's what's for shipping. Insure delivery of a personal check? Would you insure it for $0.25, the cost getting each printed check? You'd insure it for whatever amount you deem appropriate. Insured packages generally require a signature on delivery and therefore are much less likely to be 'lost' or 'mis-delivered'. UPS, FedEx and DHL all have document envelopes available for sending checks and shit. |

I shipped a Vortex to someone who bought it off of the EE. After it was shipped the tracking number stopped in TN and never moved from there. It was suppose to end up in TX. After two weeks of waiting and trying to get things settled out I had to refund $900 to the person who bought it from me. USPS told me that they had major issues with people steeling items out of that location in TN. I did a few claims with them to get my $900 back after paying and insuring the package for $1000. I gave them all the correct documents, receipts ect only to be told that they needed a bank statement showing how I paid for it. I paid in cash, they simply said there was nothing they could do since I paid in cash. I will NEVER use them again. Fedex and UPS only from now on. |

It's irrelevant if I find the letter at this point, since the buyer canceled the check anyway. |

Buyer cancelled a deal over a lost check?
