having been with verizon for over 20 years, I have decided to go somewhere else. Looking at prepaid plans, the $50 t mobile plan seems to fit the bill. unlimited text/ internet and such.
The question for you guys is, how do you like T mobile? does it work well in your area?? |
| Coverage is the key, if it works where you are then they are fine. We've been with them for a couple of years now and I haven't had a problem. The wifi calling thing is awesome, I've used it to make calls back home when out of country and didn't have to pay for international rates. |
| Service where I live isn't the best but its not terrible. 4g is pretty fast. My brother was asking me how I can live without LTE, blah blah blah. Then we did a speed test and my phone was faster than his. I guess it doesn't matter too much. The price is definitely right. |

You actually get a real english speaker in the USA when you call. It is not given to cust generally but one day the guy at the T Mobile store called it on my phone and forgot to delete it

There are a couple of spots, like Stretch Island in Mason Co., where I don't get service. Other than that, no problem. |

I went through four phones in two years. Constant software issues. Crappy customer service. I can't begin to describe the rage i experienced. Then again, some people have never had an issues. Have fun. ![]() my daughter is on her 8th phone in 7 yrs...teens...she is already on her second Galaxy S3.. She just wears them out I guess. CS never gives her a problem when she calls, they just send her a new phone w/ a return box for the old one, no questions asked. Her insur is only like $5 a month. |
| I have used that plan now for several years. Works for me. When I ship out I switch to the pay as you go 10 cents a minute plan. 100 dollars and it keeps the account open for a year. I would have stayed with Verizon but I go overseas frequently and wanted the GMS network. |

I was with T Mobile for one month with my tablet.
I didn't re-up because there was almost zero coverage between our house and Indy where my son lives. The coverage in Indy was spotty, especially in Broadripple. Other than their lack of coverage I had no problem with them. |

I've got coverage issues. None at my desk. Two different phones. And I work downtown Tampa. If you get off the interstates, you may be out of luck. The thing about the $50 plan is you still have to buy a phone. Or you can do a two year contract, get the phone included in the plan ("free"), and pay about $70 a month for the same plan. |

Seeing that i am paying $105 dollar presently for my droid, $50 for the same thing is a great deal. I was thinking of going to straight talk, but the CS reviews were less than stellar. For the $50 plan all one needs is a phone that works on Tmobile. No need to buy a new phone |

Mine kept, for lack of a better description, freaking the fuck out. Each time they would start out fine. Then a couple months in they would go completely haywire. I would lose service every 30 seconds. Texts wouldn't send or receive half the time. It was insane. I couldn't make phonecalls, use my GPS, nothing, because of the frequent service loss. And they made me go through three of the damn phones before I was eligible for a different model of phone. The fourth one wasn't bad at first but after four months it started getting really slow and freezing all the time. By this point my contract was up and I sold the damn thing and signed up with ATT. I LOVE my Samsung Galaxy S2. |

coverage and speeds is spotty, my 4g is a shitty 4g and a lot of the time it drops to 2g, just driving around town.
when i was up north near the canadian border it would either lose all coverage or go onto rogers wireless which is a extra fee. if you ever have a billing problem with them, be prepared to spend a week or two sorting it out at the very least and telling your problem to each call center as they route you back and forth. customer service is pretty shitty. |

Coverage is good in Citys, most suburbs and along the highways. But if you plan on being out in the middle of nowhere a lot than you are not likely to receive decent coverage. I've been with them 10 years and have had a good experience so far. |

Have been with T-Mobile since 2002ish. Have always had a family plan with them and never had any complaints. Always a better price than any of the big names. However now I have no need for a family plan as the wife has a work phone. So looking to switch it up when the contract expires as their 3g gets almost no reception in the lobby of my work for some reason.

Coverage really seems to be the sticking point. My wife and I have been T-Mobile users for probably 8 years. We sometimes travel between Portland and the Olympic Peninsula. Many places in between where we do not get good signal, but others with other carriers do. In the last year, I have noticed an improvement, with better coverage, almost covering Hwy 101 along Hood Canal. In addition when in the foothills in the Cascade or on the east side, I often experience no signal when others with Verizon or AT&T in the group have plenty of signal. I have been successful with a Sprint 3G Data connection many places where my T-Mobile phone has no signal.
Most recent experience with this has been off Hwy 410, east of Chinook Pass up in the ridge tops while on a jeep trip. Others on the trip were streaming music, I couldn't even send a text or make a call. I have since picked up a Wilson cellular cradle booster, which works great, but can't create signal where none exists. Other than the coverage area, we've been happy. The price is right and the phone selection is good. Also, T-Mobile is offering an unlimited data plan now, which other major carriers have moved away from. Customer service has been great. My wife does pre-paid, add as needed and I have a plan with data. |

Quoted: I have been with them since 2004 and have never had a problem. I really like that I can tether(over wifi) to my laptop all day at work ( to stream Sirius internet radio)where we have no internet, I only use about 2gig of data a month they don't seem to mind. I've done that in Portland OR, because it was cheaper per month than the hotel's daily charge. Another feature I appreciate is the UMA-based wifi calling: In 2009/2010, I was, daily, sitting in cell phone purgatory. There wasn't any carrier that could be received in the buildings I was in. But the school had plenty of good wifi hotspots, so I could get out that way. |

They just announced a merger with metro PCS. That may change your options in the near future.
They are updating their network and should have LTE this year. That said, after being a customer for nearly 10 years, they changed my contract. In doing so my bill increased just over $10 a month. I am not happy about that and will be changing companies at the end of my contract in a few months. |
