It has something wrong with it. Everything has slowed to a halt. where the hell do I start.

If I had the boot disks, I would reboot it. My wife no longer has those.

I assume you mean build disks.   If you don't have those, your options are to buy new ones or perhaps look at installing Linux.

If you want to try and salvage, I'd start with running an AV like MS Security Essentials (free) and MalwareBytes AntiMalware (free).  Once it's free of infestation, then you can look at freeing up some space, defragging HDD, etc

BTW, what type of PC: laptop?  Desktop?  OS:Apple? WinXP? WIn7?  Memory?  HDD?

Going out on a limb and guessing a PC. Do the following:



1. Click on the Start Button

2. Select "Run"

3. Enter "Taskmgr" or you can also do CTRL-ALT-DELETE

4. Click on the tab for "Performance"
