| I applied to the Sheriffs reserve unit,I have no experience. They told me that doesnt matter, I have no record and I have really good references,I also have an 8 year work history at the same place. Does anybody have advice to help me make this a success? I should get a call for an interview this summer. |

Sounds pretty good. Be honest and yourself and all will probably be well. Answer the questions as what your answer is, not what you think they want to hear. If your unit is like mine and you have to buy your gear, have about $2000-$2500 set aside for stuff (including firearm if it is not issued). Don't buy anything until they tell you that you are in and good to go, or they tell you it is time to buy a certain thing. Get that and hold off on what you don't need yet incase things don't work out or you decide it is not for you. |

Check on Disability, health and life insurence. I have someone I know who was in the SD Reserve. The fellow had an accident and was disabled for life. The Department paid all his medical bills but he was in deep trouble because all he had left for income was his Social Security. He recieved nothing else. he Good luck and be safe. John |
