I pay a little over $ 100.00 a month to watch on T.V. more or less:

Gold Rush (when in season)
Walking Dead (when in season)
Dexter (when in season and added to Direct.v. for extra money... more then 100 a month)
A show or two now and then on Discovery like dirty jobs and stuff
heavy metal music channel but only rarely
News rarely..

what the hell am I doing with my life...    this could go to good insurance or something.  I have a bunch of channels too and don't like t.v. that much I guess.  Im a fool.

We pay $80 a month and we've discussed turning it off.  We get plenty of channels with an antenna but our DSL connection isn't good enough for Netflix but $80 a month would buy a lot of DVD's in a year.  Missing Walking Dead would be my biggest issue with it, otherwise I'd let it go in a heartbeat.

Did the same six months ago. Best decision ever. Now I can watch anything from 11' or older instantly and with no commercials.

I got rid of TV about 5 months ago, and don't really miss it. Probably one of the better decisions I made for my bank account.

Over a year without cable, just got a Roku a couple months ago. Don't even watch much of that, but it is handy at times.
Don't subscribe to any pay services yet. Maybe someday I'll want to get Netflix or Amazon. Maybe.

Roku, Netflix, Hulu+, Amazon Instant, and NHL when in season = more than I can possibly watch.

We'll be cutting back to Internet-only after Game of Thrones is over for the season.  Should save about $120/month.

I will need to buy one more Roku, but three weeks of no cable will pay for that.
Live cable/sat channel feeds are becoming obsolete.  All you
need is an ISP, online content providers, and (optionally) devices like
Rokus, XBoxes, or Internet TVs for people who want to access content in ways other than a PC.

Cable
companies will transition to just being ISPs or go out of business.

I ditched my TV around 1998 before it was cool.  I was really surprised at how much I didn't miss it.

Today I have a 42 inch plasma, no wi-fi and I just watch shows through netflix DVD's.  $20 a month, not bad.

Been using the internet for all of my viewing needs for the last 8 years, and haven't regretted it yet. You get to watch all the same things you can see on TV, except you can watch them when you want to. And so much cheaper.

Already had the OP's awakening a couple of years ago.  Get a Roku and never look back.

Gold Rush, Walking Dead, Dirty Jobs are all on Netflix.  It's like $8 for the "on demand" version.  I only have Netflix.  No cable.  Perfectly content.
And Sons of Anarchy is on there!  I'm not sure, but I think that Dexter is on Netflix as well.
