Leaning against my neighbor's door in my apartment building is a Toshiba LCD TV, box is big... clearly the driver just left it no signature.  I'm debating bringing it into my apartment and leaving the neighbor a note so it doesn't walk away... WTF?  a huge box labeled Toshiba and you just leave it?????

Yes, obviously the delivery driver should have waited until someone came home so he could hand them the package.

I don't know about you but, when I order expensive items to be delivered I specify an address where someone will be when I expect it to show up. Like my job, my wife's job, my aunt's house .... or I require a signature for delivery. Usually the former. Particularly if I live in an apartment complex because many will no longer accept packages for the tenents because of the potential liability.

Unless the shipper or shipee requests a signature for delivery the carrier is not going to require one.

Besides, what do you care, it ain't your package and it doesn't sound like you intend to steal it. I'd say the whole thing is a non-issue.

Be a good neighbor. Go retrieve it.

Would said neighbor do the same for you? If it's damaged will the neighbor blame you?

The other day I got one of his packages and just opened it not looking at the name.  I thought top myself, I never ordered this!  Looked at the address and realized it was his and took it over to him.  Nice guy, he said thanks and appreciated me bringing it to him.  I doubt he would blame me if it was damaged.  I guess the only reason it bothers me is UPS delivered one of my packages to my old apartment building because amazon fucked up and shipped to an old address.  Somebody walked with it from my old building as the tracking says left in lobby, and so far nobody has returned it to UPS.  Huge inconvenience for me and I'd hate for something to happen to his TV two days before Christmas.

Grab it & hold it for him.

You would think the guy would be home on the specified delivery date for a large purchase like a TV.

I've had delivery drivers leave firearms on my doorstep without signatures. That was a surprise.

ETA: Back when I was ordering a lot of stuff from Hobbylink Japan our UPS guy used to deliver all HLJ boxes to my address, regardless of who they were actually addressed to...

The only thing keeping me from bringing it to my apartment is he lives the next floor up and the poster asking me about if it got damaged has me worried about bringing it down a flight of stairs on my own.

So tell him they left it at your door - problem solved.

Be a good neighbor, leave a note and take it down to your apt.

I have an FFL, when that happened three times in a row, I got in touch with UPS and explained the wonderful time they would have if any guns went missing before I received them.

None of my business but it seems odd you were upstairs in the first place.

Our local UPS guy is pretty awesome. If there's no signature required he'll go around the back and stick it underneath our deck.

I suppose cookies go a long way with UPS guys

Same here, several times.  And a shipment of friggin' gold coins that was labeled by the seller (APMEX) to NOT leave it at the door .  Luckily I have good neighbors.

And ammo deliveries left in the bushes, not under the porch roof, in a rainstorm.

Fuck signatures, I got a route schedule!

Would you like me to send you a photo from the entry way to my building with the staircase that leads right to his front door and can be seen from the entryway?  Anybody walking into the building can see it.  Now in compliance with the CoC I won't tell you what you can do to yourself for questioning my integrity.

Take it out of the box, mount it to the wall, and leave a note thanking him for his contribution to the new community recreation space.

In your first few posts you made it sound like it was your next door neighbor or at least on your floor.  When you mentioned dragging it down the stairs it just seemed odd that you were on an upper floor.  I'm sorry you got offended but shit wasn't adding up.  There are some shady people on this site that reveal the weird shit they do not realizing they just got caught.

Yeah, because that has been my reputation around here over the past decade as both a member and moderator and friend to many here.  Thank GOD we have you around to make sure everybody is on the up and up... I know I for one feel safer!

Ya never know––I was planning on being home for a scheduled delivery of a laptop this past Monday.  Of course, FedEx delivered it Saturday while I was at work, in a nice box labeled "Dell" on my front porch.

When I lived in an Apartment complex the UPS guys just delivered all the packages to the office.  Then you just went to the office to pick them up.  It was nice because you never had to worry about someone stealing your package.  I imagine the UPS/Fedex drivers liked this because they just delivered all the packages at the office and didn't have to go to each apartment.  Which reminds me I wish I would have tipped the UPS guy last Friday when he delivered my package.  He goes out of his way to hide packages. Instead of dumping it off at the front door he drops it at the back door and if its small enough he hides it under my grill cover.

That doesn't work, either. I bought an upper from Bushmaster and specified signature required. The driver left it at the door of my apartment.

The first building I lived in had a great maintenance staff that would sign for packages and leave them inside your apartment.  The maintenance guys also lived in the building and you could knock on their door at 3:00 in the morning and they would handle your maintenance needs.  The rent was high in that building, but it was secure, luxurious, well staffed and did I say secure?  I think I was paying $600 a month plus electric (heat and hot water included) for a studio apartment more than a decade ago, but it was worth it.
