Came across this guys video on hard triggers/wall and the danger they present. He gets right into it with video showing the gun going off if you shake the gun after hitting a hard trigger wall. No games, no name calling. Please just be aware of it. Both videos are excellent and very clear. He is located in Guam. He's a armorer. Part 1. Showing the problem. A couple things "But I am not a licensed SIG armorer." Using an armorer that is not Sig authorized will get your warranty cancelled. I believe the tolerance stacking is the issue. But without hard data, it holds no water. You would need to have the Sig specs and measure a very large data set to find the issues with the tolerance stacking. Most modern CAD systems will do a good but not great job of this. The quick fix that most manufacturers would put in place is increasing the lot samples of the internals during QC. I would bet Sig has done this. |
So I’m going to ask a question here and am looking for reasoned, unemotional answers. This being GD, I expect to receive none.  Here goes! What’s the company-wide fix? With all of the P320s in circulation there has to be a fix that isn’t going on MAC and having a nice sit-down with a gunfluencer. Slide trade-in program, so you send in your old complete slide and receive a new one with an improved striker? Or FCU program adding a trigger dingus? I do agree that it could be a tolerance stacking issue… but there is no way this thing is getting scrapped. I’d be shocked if that happened. I’m just wondering what the remedy for this could or should be. |

I think all of it combined makes it very hard to come up with a solution. My best guess is SIG discontinues the P320 and comes out with the P330 etc. |

I bought a P320 back when it was a new platform and really liked the way it handled and performed. Within a year I had three of them from sub compact up through full size. All shot well, and have been to Sig for the modification. They are probably safe based on following proper re-assembly procedures and passing the sear movement test. Having said that I can only say probably safe and have them unloaded and sitting in the safe, probably to never be fired again. |

My other pistols are all Glocks and 1911's, with the exception of a few different 22's. No SIGs there. Just buy some extra trigger return springs. They sell them in a 3 pack at SIG. It will break but it's any bodies guess when. |

One of the interesting things about being a civilian armorer on Guam - Guam probably has the highest civilian ownership of machineguns per capita in the United States, b/c of all the rental machineguns for the Japanese tourists. It's only a few hours from Japan, so the Japanese newlyweds fly to the United States for their honeymoons - and rent machineguns at the commercial shooting ranges in the strip malls. So our Guammanian armorer probably has more full-auto experience than your average gunsmith. I look forward to his next video showing the trigger pull weight resolution. |
