A lot of the leadership at Netflix are techies who have never cracked a book on economics or management. They don't seem to get that the modern economy's space for middle content managers/aggregators is very short lived when content developers can reach their end-consumers so easily and cheaply. Switching costs are too low and continue to drop. Netflix is trying desperately to become a network/studio before they lose their aggregator lead. Netflix got an initial bump from the death of video stores and novelty of instant video, and then a brief (couple of years) bump from cable cutters, but the cable companies hold localized monopolies and have the ability to bundle actual services with value vs Netflix that just delivers increasingly less quality content every month as their content generators realize they can go straight to the consumer and consumers realize that the remaining content mostly sucks per $ spent. They will hold a declining balance of "old people" and the dumber base of society who can afford their service unless they successfully transform themselves, but the same leadership is putting SJW as a leading value over the financials.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: The group that hits the growing direct instant-video market with more conservative (politically) or non-political based product as Netflix and YouTube Premium (Cobra Kai flat out rocked) is going to make $$$. You'd get a massive fan base and positive cash flow in short order - moreover you would be able to counterpoint the ridiculousness of the left and they would give you free publicity while their middle gets eaten by the distribution of common sense on screen. People are hungry for it and the box office #s prove it (the industry whines about it constantly. liberal movies underperform or tank entirely, while even *slightly* conservative ones overperform. they whine that the public doesn't appreciate "art" but the bottom line is the message is being rejected not the "art").
