Is there anywhere with pointers on where I can do this, and check for compatibility?

I've got an '05 Honda Oddessey with a child-pacification unit from Audiovox. Roof mounted screen and IR audio broadcaster for headphones. The in-dash player itself has gone TU, and plays discs about 5% of the time or less after ejecting and replacing them repeatedly. For some reason it can play DVD's burned on DVD-R's on my home PC's a bit easier.

I've cleaned it, and airdusted it out etc. and I think it's just got head alignment problems or is simply "busted" somehow.

I've got all the wiring in place for the screen, I only need to replace the player, and car A/V places want insane amounts to swap it out, when the hard part, pulling down the headliner to install the drop down screen in the roof etc. and putting that all together was already done.

All I really need is a diagram on how to get the drive out of the center console and hook a new one up, I'm guessing the rest of the wiring is probably standardized.

Anyone?

just unclip the trim around the unit above the transmission tunnel, there are 4 10mm bolts holding the player in. Just pulled one and sent for repair last week, total was about 270 with shipping back and forth.

Jeebus...

With stand-alone DVD players for your home selling for $29, and the PC form-factor even cheaper...

Is there something wrong with this PYLE brand in-dash player?

For $270 I could buy four of them if it kept dying on me...

The only thing I can't figure out is the audio output. The Audiovox we have now does FM modulation to a channel etc. and the radio picks it up. (Which sucks if you go through a town that actually has a station at that freq...

OTOH, the Odyssey has "AUX/Satellite" so HOPEFULLY there's a wire in there for that which would be even better. One button instead of futzing with the radio to find the preset station to listen to the DVD player.

That pyle should be ok, I use the Farenheit most of the time, pretty much the same thing.
