nobody? I have a portable cook plate [induction] picked up at Good Will for like 8.00 bucks then spent 100.00 bucks on induction cook ware 2 frying pans and 2 quart pot But I found this thread http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_1_163/1711135_Gas_or_Induction_.html |

I don't have a cook top , My stove top is NG and works well for most things
but I do have a 12" hot plate style unit . It works very well for boiling water quickly and simmering . Two things that gas doesn't do as well . Especially simmering even when using a simmer screen you still end up with a hot ring . The inductive unit heats the entire pot or pan evenly . I have seen that there are some combo Induction/Gas unit available now Which I plan on using next time I'm redoing a kitchen . |

I switched out from gas to the Jenn-air induction. Gas at altitude will not put out the advertised BTUs and the unburnt gas and toxic exhaust is then expelling into the living space. It took a bit to figure out how to cook with the odd new system, but I really like how easy and well it cooks. It's a ceramic glass cooktop that is touch screen with no knobs and only takes a couple of wipes to clean up. The kids are cooking a lot more because there is less of a chance of them getting burned or burning the house down.
My suggestion; get a used nu-wave "as seen on TV" to try out and see if you like induction cooking. Induction cooking isn't for everyone. |
