Anyone tried this workout with Shaun T?  I've done two rounds of p90x and, honestly, I'm bored with it.  It's not that it became easy, it just got to be too routine.  I've switched up the workouts and I'm still not excited about it.  Any other ideas on extreme workouts would be welcomed.

I saw an infomercial on the insanity thing the other day. Looked pretty stupid in my opinion... if your goal is to lose weight it may be ok, but then again any program is if you dedicate to it.

I personally wouldn't do it, but to each his own. Ever try Crossfit? That will get you in MUCH better shape

Never tried crossfit.  I have heard quite a bit about it.  Mostly on here.  I'll check into it.  Thanks

I would try insanity if I couldn't Crossfit, or didn't want to. I like the fact that Insanity requires no weights.

That being said, I Crossfit 4 times per week, and I pay enough for it.

Crossfit will cure you from being bored. It will also get you to a pretty decent combo of faster and stronger (and bigger if you eat right and supplement with a few extra heavy lifts)

I've been Crossfitting for over 2 years, and not to brag or anything but there are people that are stronger than me, and people that are faster than me..but few people that I know that are stronger AND faster than me.

I looked into crossfit and I don't think I can do it.  I don't want to invest in a whole bunch of new equipment and I live about a hundred miles from a town that has any cross fit members.  Insanity does look a little silly, but it also looks pretty demanding.  I'm 36, I've done p90x twice, I am in better shape than almost anyone I know that isn't still in high school or just returning from deployment.  My question is; if it looks stupid should I care?  I just want to do something different for a while.

Since you don't have any equipment then it may be a good alternative.

If you do decide to do it please keep a log of how it goes, you'll be the first I know of to try it

I've got dumbells from 10 to 60, bench press and pull up bar. I just don't want to have to buy all the kettlebells and other stuff they recommend.  I don't have the space and I just don't want stuff jammed in somewhere.  I went ahead and bought the insanity deal.  I don't know if it's as good as they say, but I'll let everyone know.  It's only 60 days, so it won't be hard to finish.  If it's not what I want I'll sell it on here to someone.

I don't have kettlebells either. That's literally about all you need, add a set of gymnastic rings and you're set.

You can use benches/chairs for box jumps, 60lbs of dumbbells is plenty enough for swings etc.

Looking forward to see how Insanity goes nonetheless

You don't "need" any of that stuff, it's nice to have but certainly not required. If you have some weights and a pullup bar you're 90% there, and that's good enough for all but the really obsessed (like me)

I just got Insanity today.  I planned on starting into it full go on Monday.  I decided to give the "warm up" and fit test a go today.  I'm gonna need to get into better shape before I try anymore.  The 1 minute breaks between exercises seems like a blink of an eye.  I can definitely tell I'll be a completely different person after 2 months though.

I did the fit test for Insanity today and then skipped through tomorrow's workout.  It seems pretty serious.  The 30 minute long fit test worked me.  I wasn't low on any exercise, but I just finished two rounds of p90x.  Tomorrow's workout looks like a total cardio bomb.  I don't think a person will gain a ton of strength on this workout, but if you work hard and stay committed, I don't see how you couldn't come out totally ripped in 60 days.  If anyone wants to know how this goes say something and I'll give updates.  If nobody cares, I'm not going to waste the space on the intertubes.

I would definitely like to see some updates once ya get things going

I don't think I would ever do it myself, but always interested in different training methods

I wasn't doing any sort of work outs before i started Insanity and when i did the first fit test, it beat my ass and i threw up. but as i went on it got better and i am on my 2nd round. great program. it helped me cut down my run times.

I just finished day 2 and feel like I got hit by a truck.  Running through the warmup excercises 3 times was pretty brutal.

I just did the day 1 workout.  It's pretty crazy.  It just beats you.  Way more intense than any of the p90x workouts.  Both have their place, but today was just pure cardio.  My heartrate was at 200 or slightly above for most of the workout.  Before you get all crazy, my h.r. always runs high.  I'm not completely whipped like I was when I started p90x, but I couldn't keep up at the end and had to take breaks.

To the person that said this workout looks stupid.  You are right.  It looks stupid and it's hard.  We'll see how it goes.

After 4 days of this workout I can tell you that it's a serious workout.  It's no joke.  It is mostly cardio, but most of it focuses around your core.  I don't have serious ab soreness like with p90x ab-ripper, but I know I work it all the time.  This is a serious weight loss, toning program.  I can't see gaining a ton of mass with it, but I sweat more during 40 minutes of this than I did with 60 minutes of plyometrics.  Like every other workout, it has it's focus and can't cover everything.

The thing I like the best is that it gets everything done in less than 45 minutes.  And you work your ass off.

I really want to try it.

I did P90x religously July,Aug, Spet of 2009.  All 90 days straight.
Oct, Nov, Dec of 2009 I did a variation of P90x where I did the
weight training 3 days a week and did some light jogging at night.

This has been my new program to keep it fresh:
January 2010 I started P90x again 4 days aweek. (skipping Friday/legs and Sat/Yoga)
I did from P90x workout
Mon- Chest/Back
Tues- Plyo
Wed- Arms/Shoulders
Thurs- Kenpo

Then February I changed again to keep it fresh.
Mon- Chest/Shoulders/Tris (P90x)
Tues/Thurs - Crossfit Workout (Ran 1 mile, 2 rounds of 40 push ups, 12 pull ups, 25 body weight squats, 40 sits, ran 1 mile)
Wed- Back/Bis (P90x)

This week I am going to start a Half Marathon training program now that I have lost the weight I was wanting to.
My heaviest was June of 2009 at 197lbs.  Now I weigh 165lbs so the running will be easier on my knees.
My main thing was to cut out fast food, soda and candy bars as a snack.
I still ate and didnt deprive myself at all.  Cutting wasted open calories and working out does a body good.

New Workout: Following a half marathon training schedule.
Monday- Run
Tues- Crossfit
Wed- Run
Thurs- Run
Fri- Crossfit
Sat- Run
Sun- Rest

The most important thing here will be adjusting my diet to fuel it for the running.

This workout is a serious calorie burner.  For only 40-45 minutes you can really get it done.  The sweat just pours off of you.  I still feel a little silly doing it, mainly because every exercise seems so easy.  It's the tempo and the pace that make this worth it.

I recommend this workout as a substitute for your main workout.  If you're 50 lbs. overweight you are going to get hammered with this workout.  You can do it, you just won't be able to keep up.  It's pretty intense.

Starting it today. I've done two rounds of P90X and loved it. Gonna see how I like this.

Will provide updates.

Probably the best part of this workout is that you can get a total cardio workout in less than 45 minutes.  It really works you and I enjoy the challenge.  This is not a replacement for p90x or crossfit or any other program with weights mixed in, but for pure cardio, it's worth it.

Day six today and it's going well. Sweat flows pretty quickly and it seems much shorter than P90X (even though it's only shorter by 15-20 minutes).

It seems light on back work, but everything else gets hit pretty well.

Definitely more for weight loss and cutting. You'll get toned from it but not add a lot of bulk if any.

That being said, if your shoulders and triceps are weak, they will get better. Lot's of push up like moves.

It's a nice change of pace from lifting or running/biking.

It is IMO an excellent choice for winter where you are stuck indoors with no access to a gym for cardio.

Started Insanity this week along with a smart diet plan.

My ass is whup'd.

I tried the fitness test yesterday and I couldn't get past halfway. I am seriously out of shape.

I am just going to do the Fit test for this entire week so I can actually get through the shortest and most basic DVD.

Today I finished the Fit test. Haven't eaten a real meal since lunch since I got busy after work.

Here are my numbers:

Switch Kicks 80

Power Jacks 27

Power Knees 35

Power Jumps 20

Globe Jumps 3

Suicide Jumps 6

Push-Up Jacks 15

Low Plank Oblique 32

Like the other guy, I nearly puked my first day. This is a serious workout.

Please keep us updated. Im interested in it after I finish p90. Im afraid with the p90 its going to put too much muscle on me.

3rd day with the Fit Test. Here are my numbers:

Switch Kicks 95

Power Jacks 32

Power Knees 38

Power Jumps 30

Globe Jumps 30

Suicide Jumps 5

Push Up Jacks 20

Low Plank Oblique 40

Did things a bit differently today by taking longer breaks between each test. I know this doesn't make it the same workout, but I was able to feel less sick afterward and I had enough time to catch my breath between each set. Also, I copied one of the people on the video by doing 5 or 10 at a time and then resting. This accounts for the jump in numbers (and also how I ended most exercise at after an additional 10).

I'm not too confident that the 95 reps on the switch kicks is a solid number since it is easy to lose form when you get tired. Tomorrow I'll focus on form more than reps.

I still feel worn out as hell and I'm sweating more. Just 2 more days of the fit test, and then I'll rest on the weekend and go at this full steam next week.

Day 4:

Focused on form today and didn't pause the DVD, so this one was pretty quick (25 minutes from warm up to cool down). Sweat just as much.

Here are my numbers:

Switch Kicks 80

Power Jacks 30

Power Knees 46

Power Jumps 32

Globe Jumps 3

Suicide Jumps 8

Push Up Jacks 21

Low Plank Oblique 60

One more day.

I'm not doing the program, yet, sorta. It has been a while since I've been this active so I'm doing the Fit Test Mon-Fri to get myself up to speed. Then, next Monday I'll start on the actual work out schedule for 60 days. I have to do the fit test tomorrow and then I can rest on the weekend.

Ok, I did all but two weeks of this workout.  It's just too much cardio and nothing else.  It would be great for someone that is just looking to lose weight, but that's not me.  I'm looking to bulk up a little and cut up a little more.  The workout was hard everyday.  It never got easy, but I did get a little bored, even though I sweated my ass off.  If you're looking to just lose some weight, probably quite a bit, this is a good workout.  If you want to build mass, this isn't gonna do it.

I'm going back to p90x.  I've had great results with it and guess I'll stick with it until I find something else.

Knocking this back up to the top.

Did the fit test today.  I've gone through P90X, my biggest problem was that I didn't lose any weight, I built muscle, but didn't burn off the extra weight. (I probably did burn a little, because I'm stronger, but I'm not 'where I want to be')

So I've decided to do 2 things.  One is going to be Insanity, the amount of cardio looks like just what I need to burn off my extra fat.  The other is that I'm going to ride my bike to work again, in the Summer, in Phoenix.
