Freaking sucks!!! I dont mind it so much on a weekend, but my ass will be dragging all day tomorrow for sure. I can always tell if its going to be a bad night if I sleep for an hour before waking up, that was tonight.

Looks like Ill be surfing Arfcom till 3:00ish.

you ever try taking something to help you sleep?

I've had it since elementary school.

Years of getting 4-5 hours of sleep a night can't be good for a body.

Yes, I have tried a number of sleep aids, after about 20 minutes I start to get very "jittery", thus making my sleepless night even worse.

I always try reading. It used to be I could go through a whole chapter before turning in. Now, I'm lucky if I can get past the second page of the night.

I've had a tough time going to sleep since I was a little kid.  Melatonin is the only thing I've ever found that actually helped long term.

Its occasional in spurts. The odd thing is, if I can manage to get one good night of sleep, I will probably be able to get a good nights sleep for a few days, but if I get a lousy nights sleep, it will stick with me for weeks, until I can sleep again.

I am glad I can manage to get some sleep, a situation such as yours would really drive me crazy.

I have chronic insomnia.

It's called a full-time job, 2200-0700.

I would caution against starting to rely on sleep aids.  Bad idea.

Do not eat or drink anything for at least an hour before turning in.

Try reading a book for half an hour or so before turning in (relaxes the mind).

If you are a Net addict like me, put limits on it.  This computer gets turned off by 11 p.m. at the latest on any night where I have to work the next day.  (I have found that Net addiction can REALLY exacerbate insomnia if you let it get out of hand).

I'm sure someone is going to mention the relaxing effects of sex before going to sleep - that's up to you.

Sex does the trick sometimes, my wife doesnt really care about my insomnia some nights, I think.

Sleep aids dont work for me, so I dont rely on them.

Get a sleep study - Now.  Excess Weight can do it, because it can make you Apneic.  I can't sleep if the GF and/or dogs are snoring.  I use a CPAP, and sleep just fine during the day, but at night it's TOO quiet, and I have "Hypervigilance".  The slightest sound wakes me up, and I'm on the alert.  Sleep is over, at that point.  Daytime, there's enough noise no one stands out, and I sleep fine.
