I have been selecting components for the past few weeks for a computer build and racking my brain trying to make sure everything is compatible. Finally in dawned on me to ask this question.

is SATA 2 backwards compatible with SATA? is ATA 150 backwards compatible with ATA 100?

An answer here would greatly help.

Yup.

Edit, try to avoid it if possible as you may take a feature/performance hit if you use a part that is to slow/stupid.

SATA 2?  I must be out of the loop.
