| A couple of days ago, I got a notice from microsoft for an update. I downloaded it and apparently it installed IE 7. I restarted and tried to use the net but my machine locked up tighter than a bulls ass. I had to do a system restore back to before the download. I'm running XP Pro. Does anyone know of any trouble with IE 7? Any guesses as to what happened? |

Lots of issues with IE 7 from all over. Lots of it has to do with people upgrading inadvertantly and then having issues with the interface. I think pushing it out through software update was a BIG mistake. Best part is MS STILL hasn't learned how to display or generate standard HTTP

Same thing here. IE7 didn't work at all and had to restore. I got Firefox and no more problem.. |

We have some web-based applications that we run. We've instructed all technicians not to upgrade any computers to IE7, because it is full of suck. Some of our apps only work in IE6. I tend to use Firefox and Camino when I'm not required to use IE with one of our web apps. |
That about sums it up for me as well. Works, but I really don't see any benefit that was gained in doing so. Ah well..... |
Office 2007 is a nice, the first Office release in 6 years that is a must upgrade. |
'Change' is a business plan to keep MSFT's margins from sinking. Most users utilize perhaps 10% of the features in Office, if even, so the benefit is of marginal utility. Most innovative stuff MSFT has produced in recent years are C# & Xbox. Their business model depends on upgrades & increasing "SW interdependance" (read: dependance on MSFT) that comes w/ each new 'improvement'. Otherwise, they'd have to liquidate their WA State-based assets & move HQ to India. |
