Real short story; wife was on myspace.com trying to add shit to her page and clicked on a pop-up that released some malicious crap into my work computer.  Norton Antivirus catches 202_app13.exe and silent_ventura5.exe and puts them in uarantine.  When I delete them, they come right back as soon as I try to access internet explorer.  IE goes down before the webpage comes up, I get a message immediately.  Only way I can get online is through the MSN feature that makes me login with name and password.   Whats the deal and how do I fix this?  My computer is very slow now and I use this laptop for work when I have to bring it home with me.

First, you have what's known as an IE Hijacker...you'll need antispyware to delete it since it sounds like it's in your Registry keys...Dowload Spybot Search and Destroy and Spysweeper (freeware)
Sweep and clean (if the hijacker will let you) then DUMP IE and download Mozilla Firefox.

The name of it is Trojan.Popper, Ill get the spyware stuff and try it out.  I banned the wife from my computer, that should help later on.

I downloaded firefox after doing a scan and fix with the S&D program, it says I am all good but firefox wont open, same problem as with IE.  I am also getting the same messages from Norton concerning the files that are corrupted, and I am now getting all kinds of shortcuts to porno and internet casinos on my desktop and throughout my computer folders.  This sucks.

I'm on myspace.com too, but haven't had a problem with it. Did she get it when she was viewing someone else's profile or when viewing her own?

physically disconnect what ever type of wire(s) you use for the internet
boot into safe mode
run the various spyware and anti-virus tools
