The White House has denied the rumor.

I hope they are lying.

They'd haul ass to get the good news out if there was any truth at all to that rumor.

If it is true they need to keep it quiet--have to keep Bin Laden under wraps and pump him for info.

Bush expected to announce capture of Bin Laden
By THE JERUSALEM POST INTERNET STAFF

According to Israel Radio, US President Bush is expected to announce the capture of arch-terrorist Osama Bin Laden.

An intelligence official in Islamabad, Pakistan, said that US and Pakistani intelligence agencies are tightening the noose around Bin Laden's hideout, which is believed to be in the Baluchistan province of Pakistan on the border with Iran.

Bush is expected to give a speech from the White House at 03:00 Israel time.

I know the stories conflict but wouldn't it be great if GWB personally broke the news tonight.
The Dem-Wits would shit their pants and the Weasels would cave at the UN.

If they ever catch him alive...I say we put him in a cage in the middle of Ground Zero and force him to watch the rebuilding of the WTC.
Plus he would have to see all the pissed off people and hear the taunts from them 24-7-365.
Keep him awake via drugs and feed him nothing but pork products.

Can't get to the JP, server is down or overloaded. WH is denying the report. Lots of stuff flying about and I seriously doubt they'd keep the capture or confirmed death of OBL under wraps until 8:pm. The positive effect that the capture of OBL would have on the stock market would be one reason to announce it ASAP.

I don't want his ass caught.  I don't want to have to keep knowing that he's still breathing my air while we put him on display in the dog and pony show his trial would be.  I want them to find him and immediately send him straight to hell with a ham sandwich and a bag of pork rinds under each arm! Media:  How's so?
P. Bush:Well. The good news was we caught

Media: Mr.  President.  It's a great
news.  So what is the bad news?
P. Bush: Well.  One of our soldier
               inadvertely had his finger on

I'd like to know where all those "OBL is dead and you know it" members are...

OBL does not deserve a trial. He does not deserve anything short of an American GI pumping his hide full of good ol' American 55gr FMJ from a good ol' American made M4.

That's my take on this.

Osama arrested near Pak-Afghan border area?

Friday March 07, 2003 (0015 PST)

QUETTA, March 07 (Online): The American and local agencies Thursday arrested 9 Al-Qaeda suspects who may include Osama Bin Laden or his son near Shamshi airport near the Pak- Afghan border areas, sources said.

The sources added that the agencies were quite active in search operations for the last two days.

They maintained that at least one "very important" Al-Qaeda man (who may be Osama Bin Laden or his son) was also among the detainees.

The sources suggested that the operation near Chaghi could well be the follow up of reports that arrested Al-Qaeda suspect Sheikh Khalid Mohammed had told investigators about the whereabouts of Osama.

The detained suspect had reportedly told the investigators that Osama had met him in mountainous regions of frontier areas near Balochistan.

Sheikh Khalid along with two other suspects was arrested from Rawalpindi by the agencies. He was later handed over to the United States.

Information Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed when contacted showed ignorance about the incident.

"I don't have any information about this operation. I can't say anything", he told Online.

Presidential spokesman Maj. Gen. Rashid Qureshi also said that he had no knowledge about the incident. "No, nothing. I don't know", he told Online.

The US meanwhile has also put the Jamaat-e-Islami in the watch list suspecting alleged links with Al-Qaeda.

The religious parties in Pakistan, already furious over possibility of US attack on Iraq, have shown strong reaction to the arrest of Sheikh Khalid Mohammed and others.

The Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal led by Maulana Shah Ahmed Noorani vows to fight the "aggressor" US until the end.

I dont believe OBL should be killed. I think instead he should be allowed to exsist somewhere between life, & death. Some kind of an extended torture that would be worse than death, because the promise of life is just a finger tip away. Something that could execute him slowly, once for each, & every one of his victims. That would make me smile real big. Maybe give him to the Apaches as a play toy.[;D]

WRONG ANSWER !

He needs to be kept alive...  Imagine the years of fun we could have torturing him ?!!?

If Osama IS caught, it's probabably not a good idea to broadcast his capture.  This would just incite terrorists to kidnap Americans for his release, or kill American in revenge if he's dead.  Better kill him quietly and dump his body in a vat of acid and let his followers wait for orders that will never come, and pick them off one by one.

For all we know, his head may already be floating in a jar under Bush's desk, or a new addition to his Skull & Bone club.  And that's just fine with me.

The kidnap deal is the other shoe I've been waiting to happen.  It goes without saying the other side has targets acquired awaiting the signal to move on them.  Whether another Achille Lauro (and don't think the food poisoning on cruise ships doesn't have folks' attention) to the upcoming tourist season, Americans are walking targets.

My surprise to this point has been the LACK of hostage-taking.  That in itself is a worry.

When OBL is caught we may not know about it for months depending on the circumstances of his capture.  Not divulging his capture and any info he could provide both directly and indirectly would provide a wealth of intelligence information.

If captured alive, OBL need to be "disappeared".  No muss, no fuss, fewer reprisals and no loss of motivation for removing Saddam Hussein.

Habib shows up -- he gets arrested.

Honestly, I would like to see him captured alive, tried, convicted, and dragged out on the mall in DC and shot in the head.

Everybody knows that the US can stomp any middle east nation we want; that's not even a question.  The point is that we don't have a beef with 99.999% of the people who live in those countries.  We need to send a message that we don't care how well-hidden and secure you think you are, we will find you and kill you.  And we don't have to nuke an entire country to do it.

The reason going into Afghanistan was justified was that the Taliban had basically told us that Osama was there and we could go screw ourselves.  Any government that openly sponsors terrorism should be removed without hesitation.
3/6/2003 3:34:55 PM EDT
[#42]
When he is caught, knowledge of that fact won't wisk around like an "internet rumor."  Everyone will be tripping over himself trying to be the first one to break the news to get the glory.

My guess?  OBL may have been killed at tora bora, but he was certainly not caught today.

I oppose torture for several reasons.  However, in OBL's case, I fully support it.  Long, slow, painful and public.  Burial of his dismembered body in hog shit needs to be televised world wide.

I like the idea of using the considerable skill of the Apaches in the effort!
