It's the whole "hearts and minds" thing. They are told how evil/nasty we are and to expect to be tortured and killed if caught. When we dont react the way they expected and treat them with kindness, the thought is, they will realize the error of their ways and come over to our side. Unfortunatly, it dosnt always work in the real world with people who see kindness as weakness  edit to correct poor grammar |
