I'm kinda bored with my job.  Sure I make enough money, but I'd trade it all in for some good old fashioned covert ops excitement.

Is anyone here an active CIA operative?  I don't mean intel, either, no offense.

I mean covert combat operations.

If so, can you post where you've seen action, whether or not you've killed anyone, and where you're going next.

Any favorite cover stories or E and E techniques I should learn?

Thanks a lot.

Oh, if any of this is "secret", go ahead and email me, but I should warn you, I'm a talker, especially if I've been drinking.

I can't promise that I won't post whatever you tell me.

Thanks again.

Well, hell, boy-you just don't want to go for the gusto, the whole enchlilada, do you? I'm not saying CIA isn't a bad place to start-I took my turn there, worked with them from inside and out, even after I moved on to blacker and more challenging ops, but don't make a career out of anything nearly so boring as a Federal agency that the general public knows all about.

You want to join the real men? You want spy-vs-spy, danger around every corner, as well as funding, media blackout and spin control, and carte blanche, the sort that would make the CIA prettyboys wet their pants?

Go to your local mall, and wait 1 hour by the restrooms with a paper airplane in your left hand. Mall security, our own boys in black, know this signal well-and yes they see you. If they want you, they'll contact you. If you want in, though, you had better already have a deniable, sealed history with a minimum of two government agencies, as combat experience in at least one of the armed forces' Special Operations, and a willingness and aptitude for Ninjutsu study. A few of the people who meet these examination criteria are good enough to take up the PSG-1, the walkie-talkie, the katana and the golf cart keys that are the badge of Mall Security-and you may be one of them. Otherwise, you're wasting your time, and should probably just wuss out and join the FBI, or stay a Navy SEAL all your career.

I had a friend whose father was a covert ops international arms trader.  He once told me that when they moved to Iran (under the Shah of course) his mother imported bolts and bolts of cloth into the country so that she could sew some clothing for herself.  Well, the cloth was "lost" (read: stolen) in customs, and it wasn't long before they were seeing Iranian women in Tehran wearing their traditional garb made out of polyester double-knit with USA logos.[:)]

As for covert ops... Well one time I stood on a trash can outside of the sorority house just to watch some big titted co-eds take showers.

I applied to the CIA for a job offering my service in societal observation and language translation on their web site in October, offering to return to Tashkent, Uzbekistan where I have family. They never responded. By my read of their application they are looking for Harvard schooled people and such. Top cops or eight year poli-sci grads with no religious affiliation.

The KGB used to recruit homo's because they could easily blackmail them into service, and they were already capable of living a double life. Thats why they were so successful in England.

My friend's dad works for the CIA.  He's not an agent per se; he's an academic specialist on a region of the former USSR.  So he teaches at a university. travels and lives over in that region, helps the CIA analyze and understand what the political situation is.  He also recruits promising agents from his academic program and from a nearby school.

I used to attend the school he has regularly recruited from; for some reason an inordinate number of students from there get recruited into the CIA, which is strange.  Strange because it's such a tiny school, and everyone studies the same thing: philosophy, religion, and science...a very general classical education.  Nothing you'd think the CIA would be interested in at all.

To get in, you need at least a BA, MA is preferred.  Prior military service is preferred.  Must be 35 or younger.

If you don't meet that last criterion, look into working for www.usaid.gov This agency is an arm of the CIA, though it probably won't give you the excitement you said you were looking for.

If you want a CIA job just call them up. It's OK to have ideas what you want to do. If you don't ask you will never know. Get a good education and go for whatever you want to be....Good Luck.

No I'm not....and you can't prove it. [:D]

As a new side note, like raven I know someone who was. A girl I went to high school with. Actually two years behind her but it was a small town/school.

She is now retired from the CIA (or so she says [;)]), is fluent in 5 languages and is currently a professor at Princetown University.

She spent many years during the '80's in Europe. Probably did something similar to what ravens friend did. But at that time, in that place, who really knows? And she don't say much about it either.

The CIA was actively recruiting after Spet. 11th and even posted ads for secret agents (read: shop bitch) on Monster.com.  Education is important if you want to be considered.  With a pool of about 6 billion people to consider using for intelligence, you can be damn sure they only want the best.  Oh, and when you get on the team, tell them to stop calling me, I swear she said she was 18.

I went by the turn-off to the CIA once.  I'm pretty sure I'm an agent now.

After this close encounter I contacted the CIA about receiving the proper creds but was told my cover was so deep I shouldn't carry creds !
