I will be in the vicinity of Chattanooga TN tomorrow, and thought I'd visit to take in the sites. Maybe hit the Tennessee Aquarium so that my 4 year old son can enjoy it. Can't find crap on their website about allowing CCW or not. The GA Aquarium was awful. No CCW, not even a knife. Plus security had metal detectors. Didn't matter I was a LEO back then too. I normally have a folder and Kahr CM9 with 2 extra mags on me. |

Key points: "No gun" signs carry the weight of law. And the Aquarium is posted on both buildings, according to my "Posted!" app:

Quoted: Overall very friendly. Three aquarium IS posted as no carry (signs are legal here) but there are no metal detectors. Three are also other random spots posted downtown, like the pedestrian bridge, but again no metal detectors or anything.

Technically, I could carry under H.R. 218, but that would more than likely involving me threatening a federal lawsuit against my ex-dept. |

Sad part is that I want my son to have an enjoyable experience, but at the potential cost of greatly diminishing my ability to protect my family and myself. And with the U.S. service members that were recently targeted/attacked in that area, it could have easily been an attack on the general public. Bottom line is to always be prepared for an encounter that may never come to light. |

Quoted: The BAD part is that if a joint is posted and anyone gets caught carrying, he or she is subject to criminal charges in lieu of simply being told to leave. If that ever went away, it would be one of the best states for carry. Great. So I need to go to the bank and get a roll of quarters to carry in my pocket now? ![]() Would suck to be charged for carrying a freakin' pocket knife. |

The signs at the aquarium are just as you go onto the grounds and they're up high on lamp posts. TN is very CCW friendly but Chattanooga has the most no carry signs I've seen among the major TN cities. Huh. Never noticed them, apparently. I've carried in there several times and never noticed the door(s) posted, but it's been a couple years since I was there. |
