Is Google maps a dated navigation tool?
Why hasn't Google implemented user tagging for real time safety road alerts sharing information with other motorists like the waze app? Did Google buy waze? Also why does Maps seems so sluggish on loading while other similar navigation programs open so quickly that's the only reason I use Google navigation anymore is because i Google a company and there's a link on the web page to navigate using Google's app |

I don't have any desire for user notifications, too much potential for fake info.
Google maps is very user friendly and performs very well. Sometimes you don't want every feature but the kitchen sink, and for car navigation I punch in at a stop sign simple is good. |

Why bog down google maps with bs notifications that are constantly changing? Its a bad idea imo. Waze will have 40 reports from Tweedle Dumbass marking the same "fatal accident" miles ahead of the stoppage which is actually the traffic backup from the Seahawks game. All the erroneous bullshit gets refined to "Stoppage", route gets color coded by speed, and it is an easy to digest final product in google maps |
| I like Waze a little better for most things. One thing I wish it did though (especially handy in DFW), was let you know which lane to be in (or not be in) for a turn. If there's a lot of traffic and you're unfamiliar with the area, you'll often find yourself either being forced to make a turn, or unable to make one. It'd be nice to know which lane to be in way ahead of time. |

Google maps is great for finding companies and planning long/future trips.
Waze excels at real time routing. FWIW I seldom see worng information on Waze, and when I do I mark it as wrong/gone. If Waze is doing things correctly, anyone that has a habit of posting bullshit/unverified warnings probably gets shadow banned. |

google maps reroutes based on data like real time speed, traffic conditions, etc. a lot of that comes from Waze. It also marks accidents roadwork etc on maps as well as color coding traffic. Waze uses googles data, not the other way around. |

No, it doesn't get the data from Waze. Are we just throwing shit at the wall and hoping something sticks? Google monitors you real time, even without the app open, and gets its data from the millions of Android phones. Waze uses googles data, not the other way around. Quoted:

But plenty of times you will see a construction / roadblock on Google maps and it will say "reported by Waze / Waze user". Also, Waze has been utilizing user speed since the very beginning, long before being purchased by Google. Honestly, everything you posted was incorrect. |

I have never seen Maps reroute an in progress trip, but I mostly use Waze these days. |

I use GM to drive from PHX to Santa Barbara, CA for work. I don't think I've ever had a trip where it didn't reroute me. Sometimes it saves me 10 minutes. Last time it supposedly saved me 2 hours by rerouting me around an accident that had the 210 completely stopped. Quoted:

Hell yes it does. It gives a pop-up "new faster route available" and you can select it, but if you don't it will reroute automatically after a short time. |

It'd be nice to know which lane to be in way ahead of time. The real problem in DFW is that the fucking Roads Department 10000000% TOTALLY SUCKS AT MARKING AND DESIGNING ROADS. The same road can and often does change names 3-4 times in just a couple of miles. They put signs up every ten feet for flood risk lcations just so dumbfucking assholes can drive into the water ANY GODDAM WAY, but cannot and or will not give you notice for what lane you need to be in until the last possible minute. They design intersections of two or three ENTIRE FREEWAYS in such a way that requires you to cross EVERY fukkin lane from one side if the intersection to the other, and do this in a 1/4 mile or less, at 60 miles per hour. TxDOT is no better. Has to be one of the highest concentrations of incompetence in the known world. FUCK THEM ALL |
