I've noticed in a few 13'ers post that when they are quoted a hyperlink appears that wasn't there in their original reply. When you click on them, nothing happens(or doesn't seem to). Is it pho time?

But you're right, I've seen a few posts like this one made by new low-post-count users, who include a link to a 1x1 pixel transparent GIF in their post. Images like that are typically used for tracking purposes, as anyone who loads that page will request the image and have their IP and web browser info recorded in that server's web server logs. |

What's silly is they're using 1x1 transparent GIFs for tracking but if they just rehosted a smiley or something on their server and then used it in their post they could get whatever info they're looking for without being nearly as obvious. |
