I didn't want to hijack another thread, but it got me thinking.. Is it wrong to date a 18 year old if your 27? Or what about in states where 16 year olds can legally have sex? At what point do you draw the line... {Poll Incoming} |

Ive been takin this girl out for weekend rides on my gixxer who is 17. Got a date with her this week. Oddly, I met her at a party I had at my place for new years. I was pulling my bike into my living room for the night cause the party was dyin down, and I made some off-hand comment to her; and she gave me her number and told me to call her. I figured she was 18/19 at least. But then again i'm only 20. ETA: She turns 18 in only a couple months anyways. Plus 16 is the age of consent in FL, if your 24 or younger. 25y.o. and 16y.o. is a no no. |

I remember being about 27 and thinking how 18-year-olds seemed like kids. I've always felt most attracted to women my own age or a little older. OTOH Hugh Hefner has always liked his women to be about 20 - 22. To each his own.

My last GF was 21 when we started. I was 42. We had a couple of amazing years together until she became a different person over time.  Hazard of getting involved with someone that young. Regrets. Yes, about it not working out in the long term is all. As long as the parties are legal, you follow your heart and be prepared to let the chips fall where they may. Life is too short and unpredictable to impose bullshit artificial limits on things like this. |

27-18= 9yrs --- go on a date, buy her a beer...your busted. Probably not alot you have in common, she is still jacked up about prom, you are jacked up about her.... 40-31= 9yrs -- hopefully by now you have both did things in your life and have grown. The only real difference is the 31yr old has more real life history and is easier for you to relate to. |
Dating isn't necessarily girlfriend material, so in the interest of pie, dating a 18 yr is perfectly fine. Good pie... Fresh pie!  As far as a serious GF, that's unlikely. At 18 she hasn't fully matured yet. Like Swingset said, it's kinda douche-ey unless she is super hawt with a good head on her shoulders, and very mature for her age. Good luck finding that! ETA I don't care what state says it's legal, a 27 year old chasing a 16 year old is plain creepy.

Wrong and legal are two different things. Something like this can't easily be put into a poll. Mess with a 13 year old? Sure! (when I was 15) When I was 19 I dated a 20 year old, then a 16 year old. Guess which one was more mature. Legal age has nothing to do with right or wrong, its just something that "someone" decided was the right age (usually 18, but 16 where I live). Mine would be somewhere between puberty and my age - 3. Depending on how old I was/is/am going to be. I am married to a woman a few months younger than me. |

"Creepy", "wierd" and all that are subjective, and there are so many variables and individual circumstances, I can't even bring myself to give an opinion on it. Obviously, society has to draw a line somewhere (by state, preferably) and I myself would support whatever the age of majority is (usually 18). I agree with states that allow it as low as 16, as long as they still permit the parent to: 1. End the relationship 2. Seek legal recourse if the relationship continues For the creepy part? Well...most 27 years olds (like myself) are FAR removed from 18 year olds. I couldn't imagine dating somebody that young. It's even worse in my case, because I felt more mature than girls my age at 18. I lucked out when I met my wife (she's less than a year younger and had her head on straight). There are exceptions though, which is why I'm careful to only speak in generalities. It's got to get really weird and creepy before I'll even raise an eyebrow. 70 and 18? That'll raise my eyebrow, but hey...to each his own. We gotta draw the line somewhere, and 18 sounds good to me...creepy or not. |

I use creepy from my experience of growing up, btw I'm 28. -When I was 18-19 I was just leaving home to go to school and didn't know how the world works -18-21 I grew up more than I have the rest of my life combined -Since he is 27 he know's the in's and out's much more so than her, in my that mind makes "dating" an 18yo creepy -As a parent, when my daughter is 18 if I found out a 27yo was lurking around I would either kick or attempt to kick(and have my ass handed to me) his ass! -A one time hit is different IMO and isn't as creepy, if that is the case she is allready a slut no harm no foul
