"That guy is a phucking kunt banging a$$hole $h!t head."

I notice that some people use "$h!t" instead of shit, or "phuck" instead of "fuck".  I personally dont give a rat's ass how much anyone curses, but I was wondering if the more PC crowd feels all warm and fuzzy reading the altered words.

I rarely if ever use expletives in my posts. I try not to talk like that, so why type like that. When I am quoting, paraphrasing or generally reusing someone's comment to me, rather than spell it out, I'll put the PC changes to the words as appropriate.

Oh yeah, IBTL.

What the fuck is wrong with people?

I for one never really understood the point of substitute or "look-alike" keyboard strokes in lieu of literal letters when writing out a curse word.

Now… had I written "What the %#*@ is wrong with people?" - I could be (mistakenly) accused of trying to say, "What the hell is wrong with people?"  Which indeed is sort of what I am attempting to say, but it just doesn't impart the visceral immediacy of my potentially violent malcontentness.

And then there's "What the fvck is wrong with people?" OK - so who am I really  fooling?  Nobody under the age of six years old (or in realistic terms, approximately 42% of this board) I can assure you of that.

In the last example, "fuck" is still there, "fuck" is what I meant, "fuck" is what was clearly called for - but I held back just a smidgen.

So what happens to the smidgen?  I'll tell you: it gets put into the bank.  That "fuck" gets put into the bank and garners interest.  Not the good kind of interest that you're all counting on paying for your chitlin's college expenses - no sir - the bad kind of interest.  The kind of interest that's a hazard for innocent, unattended kittens.

I've said too much.

An old man once told me, "Profanity is the language of those with weak arguments."

I try not to use cuss words in my posts.  If my arguments are so weak I need to cuss to impress people, I just keep quiet.

How you spell the words makes no difference, but the order does.  Sorry, but calling a guy a "kunt banger" is not an effective insult.  In fact, it's an activity that a lot of guys spend a lot of time and effort trying to engage in.

Might I suggest instead:  "That guy is a phucking a$$hole banging a$$hole $h!t head kunt."?  Or better yet leave out the "banging" entirely?  It's superfluous to the insult and could be misinterpreted in a non-offensive manner.

Oh yeah, IBTPL.

I've always held that someone that is ACTUALLY intelligent doesn't care either way.  Just like typos and the like, the point is to communicate, and if you get what the person is saying, does it really matter that they typed "hte" when they meant "the"?
Typically, it is those that are PRETENDING to be intelligent that get offended one way or the other, or that think that swearing is a sign of a lack of intelligence.  Swear words are just that, words, that some have imparted an "offensive" meaning to an individual word when not directed at any one person is plain silly.

You misunderstood me, I think.  I didn't say anything about "your" cussing offending me.  I don't care if you want to cuss.  Go right ahead. I only commented about "me" cussing.

I also didn't say anything about swearing being "a sign of a lack of intelligence".  You should carefully read posts before quoting and criticizing the content.

Don't get all wound up now, its not like I misquoted you, and I didn't say any of the things that you've inferred.  Your post simply reminded me of something, and was on a similar tangent, so I quoted it in my reply.  No need to get all riled.

By the way, neither are offensive but then I was in the military and thought those words followed ever other word for three years.

In the Navy, common verbal ettiquite contained profanity and sentences ended in ", bitch."  Even the captain swore on the loudspeaker.

I've been out for a while.

But the SORM (Ship's Organization Manual) forbade profanity on US Submarines.  It also forbade dissassembling nuclear weapons on board, stuff like that.

I think it is less offensive, because it shows consideration for other people, & what they may deem as base or course language. It is an effort to not cause an affront towards other members using the site. It's kind like what they do in the funnies, & leaves it more open to interpretation to the reader.
