I was at the hardware store buying some stuff for the lawn and saw this, so I bought it for my son who hasn't been born yet.  Wife's due in about 2 months.

Is it normal to buy guns for people that haven't been born yet?  An with the intent they won't be used for 4-8 years?

Seems like it is, guys show me knives, guns etc squirrelled away for fetuses, infants, children that exist only in their sad, scary loner imagination.

I bought 4 lowers three weeks ago for the exact same reason.  Our first should be ready to pop anytime now.

let's just be honest here.

Who did you buy the gun for?

Even if it's really for the kid you got it for you.

I don't see a problem with it. I didn't buy guns for my boys before they were born, but I did buy a bunch of guns for them when they were little that they wouldn't be big enough to shoot for years (AKs, SKSs, Mausers, muzzleloaders). The milsurp guns I decided to get early because I knew the prices would start going through the roof eventually. I also stocked up on ammo for them while it was cheap.

I have several years' worth of Christmas presents waiting for the right time to be put under the tree.

people plan for college for unborn kids... not weird at all.

is it weird, that i buy guns and lots and lots of ammo, for my grandkids, and great grandkids??? because i want to provide for my decendents, because i have no clue where the gun laws and country will be in the future, and i want my kids, and grand kids etc, to have every opportunity and advantage ...

Not at all...I'm doing the same thing even though I don't have any children and haven't been in a serious relationship in 8 months I even have stuff stashed away for my cousins' future in-laws/extended familes and they're only 6, 10, and 14!

As soon as my wife found out she was preggers, I bought 2 Colt 6920s. One for me, one for my now son. I kept the boxes and receipt. I wanted to pass something to him that had real meaning.

Exactly.

God forbid something happens to me and I'm not around when they do reach the age to start shooting, at least they'll have a gift from me to get them started.

We're gun people.  We'll use almost any pretext to buy a new one.

Bug out gun, survival gun, fetus gun...it's all good.

Don't worry about "normal"

First you would have to define normal. Normal for this site? Or normal for society?
