That you have to either reinstall windows or repair windows if you change your mobo? Vista has worked fine on both mobos but x64 will cause the comp to restart once I tell it to boot. ![]() help |

Difficult to answer. The cleanest way is to reinstall, but like has been said, it can be done...and I've done it. Basically the motherboard appears to Windows as a good number of devices. Normally when I have more than 1 device to install (say a video card, a network card, and a sound card)...the safest way to do it is to install one at a time, then reboot and do the next device. But to save time I've tossed everything in and gone with that. If a problem appears, it can be a small mess and I've even gone back to taking them all out and going one at a time. But with a new mobo, you don't have that luxury, you're throwing multiple installs at Windows at once. So the first time you boot up Windows on the new board, Windows will "find" and try in install each of those devices. It is possible for Windows to fail and not give you the desktop. I say that it'll work 3/4 of the time...easy. |
