I find your wording ironic.

Not that xmas is a bad term....it is just ironic in the context of the thread.

Merry Christmas.

I find your topic offensive. Christians shouldn't be so open with their faith. Don't you know that minority muslims are going to rule America one day, get with the times man and conform.

Merry Christmas and thankfully He was born to bear our sins before a righteous God.  It's the greatest gift in the history of mankind.  Nothing's even close.

another good quote I have heard is "the reason for the season is easter."

Because, it is obvious in scripture that the main reason he came to earth was to die on calvary in our stead!

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.  This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger."

Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
"Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests."

When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, "Let's go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about."

So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, And all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

Luke 2:8-20

I'm thankful for many, many things, but THIS is the best gift of all!

Go read the history of "Xmas" and discover for yourself that it is in no way derogatory against Christ.

www.snopes.com/holidays/christmas/xmasabbr.asp

the first letter in the Greek word for 'Christ' is 'chi,' and the Greek letter 'chi' is represented by a symbol similar to the letter 'X' in the modern Roman alphabet.

Similar is not the same as.

And only the first letter of the word 'chi'.

And since we speak English here in America, not Greek, Merry Christmas would be proper.

As for me and my house we will stay with the American way of saying it , you others can say it the washed down PC way.

ETA: That should get the anti Chritians worked up and ruin this thread.

Very true, they used the "x" to conceal what they believed because christians were persecuted at that time for their beliefs.

If one more company makes their employees say "happy holidays" instead of "merry christmas" I am going to lose itMerry CHRISTmas!!!

I personally dont like the term Xmas because it IS used by those who do it to X out Christ in Christmas, and for those who use it do to being to lazy to spell out the whole word, you are not using it becuase ts really cool to use greek terms when saying it.  it may very well be used in the greek terminology but i highly doubt that is the reason why most use Xmas,  Its just plain laziness, enough exuses already its

Merry Christmas!!!
