definitely a movie that i will watch if it comes on. quite good in all respects. i love how scary it is for the little amount of screen time the shark actually has.....
one of Robert Shaws best acting jobs.... i once knew a guy who could recite the speech Quint gave to the city council....he could do it in about 13 seconds. he had seen the movie like 100 times it was his favorite movie.... S |

Definately my favorite movie of all time, I have seen it well over 200 times and I can recite it word for word.
I actually grew up on the island where it was filmed (Martha's Vineyard) and still spend some time there in August and October. We used to have a summer house on Menemsha pond which is were the original Orca boat that sank at the end of of the movie was left to rot. Somewhere in my possesion I have many photos of the production of the movie as well as some pieces of and many photos of the Orca. When I was a kid we used to fish in an area called the Bite which is right outside of Menemsha harbor. I remember one time my father, brother and myself were anchored and having a great day fishing when this guy in a small inflatable boat comes up to us and is screaming. We asked him what was wrong and he said I need to get in your boat there is a shark swimming around my boat. his boat was about 9 feet long and ours was a 21 foot Mako Center Console fishing boat. He proceeded to jump on-board and about two minutes later this fin appears. It was very difficult to get into the water when I was younger as my older brother would always want to watch Jaws right before we went to the Vineyard and I remember him always singing the music whenever I went in the water. Last year I had dinner in a restaurant with my family and a couple of friends where Jeff Vorhee's (aka Alex Kitner) works. he was kind enough to show us his pay stubs from the movie as well as talk at length about what it meant to him to be involved in it. We have some cool signed photos of him sitting with us. They host a Jaws Fest on Martha's Vineyard where some of the props from the movie are displayed as well as some of the local actors get to sign photos and stuff. I missed it this year but was happy that my Dad got me a T-shirt as well as a bunch of cool pictures. Jason |
