Is this where we are headed?  Ok by me.

I almost wish. As LONG as we have strict enforcement of our borders so more liberals don't MOVE INTO jesusland.

Inevitably they will try so they can leech off our money we'd make. Socialism would fail in the new canada.

I appreciate you allowing me an out by claiming it was sarcasm, however...

From the link in the OP: Holders of these values are characterized by a high degree of faith in Evangelical Christianity,

Yeah, tell me a gov't based on evangelical beliefs wouldn't get out of hand in a hurry. LOTS of people would have a problem with that, including a lot of red staters. Polarizing a population like that leads nowhere good.

Besides, the remainder of the citizens in "Jesusland" would immediately become part of another continuum, with the more liberal christians on one end, and the hardliners at the other. PRESTO! Lefties vs. Righties all over again!

If you think that sounds good, you didn't think it through.

While I certainly don't want a theocracy, I fail to see much that the two have in common.

Violence? I wouldn't say that's routine for Christians in this day and age. Muslims....not so much.

Intolerance? Maybe, but the Muslim will kill you for it if he has half a chance. The Christian will just bore you to tears quoting scripture to back up his views...

As for having an agenda other than putting country first:

Quakers––––-maybe

Mormans––––-possibly

Roman Catholics––––sometimes

But I've never met a Fundamentalist Christian who wasn't rabidly patriotic...

actually the idea would work if we went back to the Constitution and the first 10 Amendments.  Kind of the way it was when it was first written.  No that wouldn't automatically mean we could own slaves, or that women couldn't vote. (but we really should take a look at women voting, they really are too stupid to make important decisions as a general rule)   But it would get rid of the application of the word "Congress" to all levels of government, which was never intended in the first place.  In other words, Utah could be a bunch of mormons, Tenn could be christian or what ever, Texas could be beered up high tech rednecks, Idaho is where you shoot things.....
And we would do well to carve out the State of Jefferson and include them.  Maybe make a deal with Mexico, and give California back up to the Mendicino border...

While it is bullshit, it does highlight one of the major problems with American politics these days. It's a choice between the socialist party and the christian party, and as an agnostic conservative, neither fits me well. I would revile living in both in the Jesusland and the People's Socialist Republic of Canada. While I view socialism as a much greater evil than modern American christianity, it would be nice to have a major candidate with whom I actually agreed on most rather than some of the issues.

"There is nothing which I dread so much as a division of the republic into two great parties, each arranged under its leader, and concerting measures in opposition to each other. This, in my humble apprehension, is to be dreaded as the greatest political evil under our Constitution."

There not much left that the christians didn't burn. They obliterated just about any other culture them came in contact with that they viewed as a threat.
