LOTS of people would have a problem with that, including a lot of red staters. Polarizing a population like that leads nowhere good. Besides, the remainder of the citizens in "Jesusland" would immediately become part of another continuum, with the more liberal christians on one end, and the hardliners at the other. PRESTO! Lefties vs. Righties all over again! If you think that sounds good, you didn't think it through. |

While I certainly don't want a theocracy, I fail to see much that the two have in common. Violence? I wouldn't say that's routine for Christians in this day and age. Muslims....not so much. Intolerance? Maybe, but the Muslim will kill you for it if he has half a chance. The Christian will just bore you to tears quoting scripture to back up his views... As for having an agenda other than putting country first: Quakers––––-maybe Mormans––––-possibly Roman Catholics––––sometimes But I've never met a Fundamentalist Christian who wasn't rabidly patriotic... |

I just don't like the whole Jesusland thing. The Jesus part, mainly. Nothing against Jesus, but my belief or lack thereof doesn't come into play in my political ideology either way. So...lets let Jesusland take the bible belt, the dems the northeast and cali, and we'll take the rest.  |

actually the idea would work if we went back to the Constitution and the first 10 Amendments. Kind of the way it was when it was first written. No that wouldn't automatically mean we could own slaves, or that women couldn't vote. (but we really should take a look at women voting, they really are too stupid to make important decisions as a general rule) But it would get rid of the application of the word "Congress" to all levels of government, which was never intended in the first place. In other words, Utah could be a bunch of mormons, Tenn could be christian or what ever, Texas could be beered up high tech rednecks, Idaho is where you shoot things..... And we would do well to carve out the State of Jefferson and include them. Maybe make a deal with Mexico, and give California back up to the Mendicino border... |

While it is bullshit, it does highlight one of the major problems with American politics these days. It's a choice between the socialist party and the christian party, and as an agnostic conservative, neither fits me well. I would revile living in both in the Jesusland and the People's Socialist Republic of Canada. While I view socialism as a much greater evil than modern American christianity, it would be nice to have a major candidate with whom I actually agreed on most rather than some of the issues.

Leftists seem to hate Christians (and Jews and other people with any common belief that isn't Islam for that matter) and yet I don't see Christians running willy nilly up and down the streets burning symbols of those that mock their religion. Unlike some other religion...that get upset over a single cartoon.  |
