.....is on track to win his fifth.....just saying.... |
| Now the soap that is NASCAR is going to have issues with a fifth title. If someone had replaced JR as the most popular driver I would say yes it will happen. Don't get me wrong I am a JR fan, but also I see that things are not always as they seem. I see Mark Martin being the Champ this year as it will be good "for the sport" IE ratings. JR just as Gordon have to have down times before they are built up as great come back stories. NASCAR is so scripted now it is not real racing, everything is so controlled to "match the cars" allow who they want to win, minus the unforeseen breakage. What is missing today is the drivers who started on dirt in crap cars and still won. Long gone are the days of the Junior Johnson, the Richard Petty and others who knew how to "drive" what they had. |

I just wish NASCAR would change the points system.
Only award points back to say 15th place and make winning the race have a substantial points difference over finishing 2nd. Gets rid of the just riding around for points racing and gives them some incentive to really battle for the lead. Listening to Darrell Waltrip talk about how someone is having a good race when they're in 18th place seems ridiculous, and awarding them points even more so.

Quoted: What ever happened with Jeremy Mayfield? NASCAR was all over him last year for some reason. He didn't seen like a druggie like they claimed. I want to say Mayfeild tested hot for steriods. Im gonna go check though. BRB ETA- Boy was I wrong. Looks like Jeremy became a tweaker. Heres the story: On May 9, 2009 Mayfield was suspended indefinitely as both owner and driver by NASCAR following what NASCAR said was a positive test for methamphetamine.[1][2][3] A federal judge weighing the respective harms and evidence lifted the suspension temporarily on July 1, 2009. On July 15, 2009, it was revealed by NASCAR that Mayfield again tested positive for the second time of using methamphetamine. He allegedly failed a random drug test on July 6.[4] On July 24 a federal appeals court overturned the previous injunction Mayfield had been awarded, leaving him suspended from the sport again. |

I remember when he was a rising star. He did that commercial where his girlfriend put motor oil behind her ears like perfume. Thanks for the info. |

I know they want to get away from a guy who only wins one race taking the championship, but the playoff system sucks. I don't mind rewarding people for consistent performance. All or nothing racing every week would have it's downsides too. |

He will.
The same way at the bristol race, they cut to the in-car radio transmission between him and Chad, where Jimmie pointed out exactly how Kurt Busch's car seemed to be hooking by the bottom by keeping the left rear low and tight, and that's the direction they should adjust the car - then he won the race, because he had the fastest car after the next pit stop. The entire Hendrick team is doing an amazing job, the the chemistry the #48 team has right now is unbelievable. They go unshaken after unfortunate accidents, with the absolute confidence they'll be there contending for the win in the next race. I would have loved to see Mark steal the championship last year, but nobody is really surprised that the only other car in the same class is another Hendrick car. If Stewart-Haas racing adds Mark, that will be an absolutely amazing fleet of Hendrick components on the racetrack. With Kahne onboard, and if Jr. can get comfortable with the car, I can see all 7 of those cars running in the top 12. |
