Granted I came to CO at a down time during the year but it's the first time in a while I've had to search for a job. I haven't given up......Far from it but coming from TX where it was fairly easy to find something to filling out app after app and not hearing anything back :/ It's just a little unsettling but like i said it's winter in CO. I've done a lot of different things job wise just never anything that could remotely be considered a long term career. |

Hang in there OP, I got laid off last Thursday due to job cuts after the company got bought out. I hate having to do all of it over again, update resume, cover letters, portfolio update, print out portfolios and assemble, it is just fucking sucks.
On the bright side I got a job at a LGS so I am lucky, and I'm single with no debt so I can pick up and go. I wouldn't mind finding a job in CO either. |

Quoted: I've done everything from roofing work(Prepping & installing Sheet metal) I've worked in a few retail shops, cleaned pools, I've run door security for a couple different concert venues, & I worked 6 years for a company processing & scanning insurance claims. The thing is I had a job in TX but we were planning to move to CO because we were going to move the family back together and then my dad died in October of last year so it pushed the date up sooner than I wanted. |

Network.
Make a list of 50 friends with jobs in industries/positions you'd be qualified or interested in. Resume. Tailor your resume to every position. Its asspain and time, but mirror as closely as possible, yourself to the announcement. Use little words. If a 10 year can't understand it, it needs to be dumbed down. Meet HR/Hiring principals if possible. Work on your personal "elevator speech" and appear enthusiatic and friendly. |

I'm in the same boat. Me, too... As many damn lawyers as there are in Nashville, you'd think landing a gig as a paralegal would be easy. Apparently not if you're brand-new, in your early 40s, and a man. I'm about ready to get back in a truck and write off the last 2 years at college as time spent doing something which didn't turn out like I thought it would. At least I had experience as a driver that I could lean against, instead of a new AAS and Certificate. |
