would you even consider a company that initially screens you by making you record video of yourself answering questions? You are given 30 seconds to read the question off your phone or computer, look at your webcam, then a timer counts down from 2 mins , and you can only submit your answer once, so no do overs.
It is not a live Skype interview . There is no interaction with a person |

What's the harm? It's a fricken video. Some of you people are wackos. apply for a job in the future wonder if they can pull the recording of your botched video recording you did 10 years ago. maybe they can sell videos to other companies who are doing background checks on potential hires. |

video that is now the property of a 3rd party company. apply for a job in the future wonder if they can pull the recording of your botched video recording you did 10 years ago. maybe they can sell videos to other companies who are doing background checks on potential hires. Use generic answers and don't say anything that you may regret. No problems. |

Would be fine, especially if it would be a long drive to where they would otherwise hold the interviews. Quoted:

Quoted:wonder if they can pull the recording of your botched video recording you did 10 years ago. How about working for a company that puts you through a polygraph and sends federal agents to interview your scoutmaster, 6th grade teacher, the county sheriffs ... and then has you expose all your finances, school grades back to kindergarden, criminal, and civil court records. They fingerprint you and delve deep. |

Depends on why. Did they ask you to make a video sitting on a leather couch in a small white office? Quoted:

We've been burned by candidates where they have someone much more knowledgeable than them take tech interview. Then they are hired and it's clear immediately they don't know what they're doing and weren't the person on the phone. Indians do it all the time.
Do video interviews now. |

My current employer does that, just do it, it's meant to filter out the psychos and you can't go forward in the hiring process if you don't.
Some moron in HR dreamed it up. The hiring manager gains nothing useful from it but it is required by the almighty Human Resources. |

Very effective way to weed out lazy applicants. Also means you'll probably have less competition for the job. Type of job matters a lot here. Are we talking $20-30k or $100k? If this is your next step in a well paying professional career absolutely do it. |

If your really not interested in this then I highly recommend doing the video interview in complete drag as "Sarah" and give the HR people something to laugh about. |

I think the type of job, matters more then pay. It's not necessary in production or repair type work... More white collar jobs, sure. Quoted:

BLM claims disrespect and racial slurs, Matressgirl claims virtual rape, and Franciss claims selfdefense as the reason for choking Mr Rogers. Video comes in handy. |
