I started looking at the beginning of November. The wife got a promotion that moved her out to Virginia, she moved out right before New Years. Since then, I've put in ~60 job applications, been deemed inelegible for maybe 5-6, been forwarded on to hiring managers for about 25, not selected for 2 or 3, and the others are still in the process. I fully expect about a dozen interview requests in the next month.
Thursday and Friday I'm flying out for interviews, both promotions, and a second interview for a lateral move. However, I've had an actual offer that has been pending some paperwork, which just cleared this morning. They want to know when I can start. In terms of potential, this job has the most...it's a promotion, with a non-competitive promotion once I'm working at satisfactory levels. On the downside, this is one of the lowest-ranked places to work in the area. It has been on the bottom of employee satisfaction surveys for years. I'm not super-enthusiastic about the job itself, whereas the other departments I'm working for...let's just say I think I'd be a better fit in those seats. I believe I have some breathing room to knock out the interviews and see how they go. I'm nervous about the whole thing...I don't like being away from my family, but I don't want to take the first thing that comes along...and I said after the 2nd interview with this group that I didn't want to take the job. Fingers crossed that the interviews on Thurs/Fri go well...should make this decision easier. Any thoughts? |
