We started doing JSA's here a few months ago.  Between those, the Pre-Job Brief, Post-Job Brief, new LOTO system, ladder inspection forms, Environmental Impact form, and "Hurt Search"... what took one guy about 10min to do, now takes a MINIMUM of 3 guys 6 hours to do.

We have these for every job function at my company.  Many hours were devoted to creating these.

I have been doing them for 4-5 years.
It's just a formality and a waste of time.

Our office and field staff used to generate these in paper form in STACKS each month.

Now we have an app called Canvas that all of our forms have been entered into, and the submissions are generated electronically.

JSA's can be a great tool to help laborers think about the risks involved in the daily tasks they do.

They can also be a nightmare to try and conform them to each and every task.

We try to find the happy balance between the two; my HSE guy has created a single page with sign in sheet on the back that my guys fill out daily. I get them to understand that the JSA is as much a part of the daily work as picking up a torch or a hammer.

We have job hazard analysis , research safety summaries, and electrical work permits. I can't power up a printed circuit card without all of them.

We also have a separate work control system for part of the plant.

It does jack shit for safety, just a paper trail for lawyers.
