No such thing as being to aggressive, correct? Was called on monday, about a position that I REALLY want. I was told the main guy would be calling me in a couple of days. Haven't heard from him, so I called him today. Left a message with his secretary. Always show the initiative, set the tone for the interview... are a few of the things I have always been told..... |
I like a nice balance. Somewhere in the middle, if its been awhile, one phone call is cool. IMHO there is such a thing as being too agressive. |

im a unique situation...i was told a gentleman would call to setup an interview and possibly watch the position first hand.. I was also told by the hiring personnel that they would like to meet me on Friday (tomorrow) This interview would take place 5 hours away from my location, and I haven't heard from them as of today. I need to plan ahead of schedule for this very long road trip... hence my need to hear from someone... |
A follow up "thank you" letter should suffice. Re-iterate your interest and what value you bring to the company. Then I would follow up with a call maybe a week or two later. If nothing, then that means you did not get the job. |
This is my first phone call to the gentleman who is supposed to get ahold of me. |
I know, and thats fine. It shows you want the job, and are curious about your plans. Just don't pester him, he'll make the decision, I had to wait 3+ weeks for a callback once, but it worked out great for me |
That is the problem. And after advising some others, they all recommend to call back and to illustrate my concern about now missing out on the opportunity if he were to call tomorrow. I will call back again before the close of business and inform that I usually do not like to leave more than one message through out the day, but under the circumstances I need to make advanced planning.. |
Sounds like a good plan of action. I wasn't implying that you were being too gung ho, just saying I've seen it happen. |
