Does it make sense to include job history that doesn't have much relation to the position you are applying for?
Example, I worked 4 months as a temp in a custodial job, while I was in high school. This was my first real job, should I include this applying for a office type job, just for the sake of only having a 5 year work history? |

If a past job has no relevance to the position being sought then listing that job serves only to provide continuity in your job history and, depending on how long you were there, show stability (but I haven't ever really found that last part to be true). So, no, not really.
I always put all my jobs on my resume, but not in detail necessarily, to show how I worked my way up but don't think anybody noticed so I stopped doing it. |
