I need some advise...Got a call for an interview today, and it's a company that I have been trying to get on with for the last 5 years. Anyway in speaking with the recuiter I found that what they are offering is way low [less than I make now]. My question is should I take the interview anyway since it with the dept head not the recuiter and try to haggle the money I want? Background I have 15yrs experince in business and with the same aircraft this company uses. And if I stay with the company I work for now I will most likely unemployed in a year.

I'd take the interview, but barter for better wages. They don't know you're potentially out of a job soon (I presume), tell them you're willing to move laterally for a better job, but not down. If you're at a higher salary for essentially the same position now, that speaks well for your record, and they may feel you're worth paying more. I've taken interviews for lower paying jobs and had a better wage offered, and then some turned out to be bad leads, but it can't hurt to interview and find out. Good luck. |
That's a perfect reason to take the interview. Any "in" you can get is a one you should strive for. Just talking to someone might open up a door that isn't open to the public, so to speak. |

Interviewing is a good form of networking. If you think you might be out of work in a year anyway, it might be good practice to sit through a interview. Unless your good at that sort of thing. (I'm not) One in the hand is better than two in the bush, or something. (get your foot in the door) |
I'm hoping to dazzle the Dept Manager with my knowlage and sparkling personality

I'm guessing money is going to come up ......the manager all ready knows they are lowballing me. The recuiter kept asking if I would take the pay rate over the phone. |
